You have the option of writing a paper or putting together a presentation. Details are below the outline. Overall, you will be researching an historical figure in the public health world, their contribution to public health, and how their work helped shape the public health system. Furthermore, you will be analyzing how their contribution from the past continues to contribute to today’s public health system and how it might guide future work within the industry.

Research the individual’s background.
Franklin D. Roosevelt was born on 31st January 1882, in Hyde Park, New York. As the
only child in his family he was surrounded by so many opportunities and self-importance. He
was one of the most pampered children by his mother in their neighborhood for they were rich.
He was educated by the governesses from his childhood stages to adolescent stage. He later
joined Groton school which was boy’s school and the most prestigious in their estate in
Massachusetts (Tugwell, 1957). He had done quite well and he then later joined Harvard
University where he became an active member of the Alpha Crimson newspaper and managed to
acquire his degree. This was done in only three years period. He was an average student. He
proceeded to Columbia, studied law and passed the bar. He later found law practice demanding,
restrictive and boring so he decided to focus and pay attention only to things that were leading to
great accomplishments (Mahmood, Levy, Vasan, & Wang, 2014).
