How to Achieve Professional Success
I.
The most valuable lesson from this class
This class has taught me a variety of skills and lessons that will help me navigate through my
career path. Most importantly, I have learned to be agile in my learning as this will expand my
career prospects. For instance, an entry job in the business world may lead to better prospects in
other career fields like international development. Being agile will be helpful in staying ahead of
the flock in an increasingly competitive job market. This lesson will prepare me to extend myself
in pursuing new opportunities and stay on course even when things become difficult.

Top talents identified from StrengthsQuest
StrengthsQuest is a tool that helps to reinforce strengths. I identified these top three talents:
Belief- I have a very strong belief system that is not shaken by the circumstances around me.
This includes self-belief and the belief that I will excel even if it takes a while longer.
Empathy- I tend to understand and feel the pain of others in predicaments such as financial
hardships, physical disability, and sickness. Empathy fuels my desire to help others.
Intellection- I enjoy participating in intellectual conversations with friends or strangers. To this
end, I carve out time to attend conferences and seminars in various fields.
III.

This is a reflective skill that helps us become aware of our thinking process and determine the
most appropriate strategy for that particular situation. Typical questions are: what do I want to
accomplish? Do I need more facts about the situation? (Chartrand et al., 2011)
2. Recognize assumptions
