Question Description

Burnout is something that those working in the human service field must be aware of and look out for both in themselves and coworkers.

This interview gives you the opportunity to discuss the topic of burnout and compassion fatigue with an individual already in the human services field.

Conduct an interview with someone who works in human services, answering the questions from the University of Phoenix Material: Caretaker Interview.

Obtain faculty approval before conducting your interview.

Write a 1,050- to 1,400-word paper discussing the interview. Include the following:

  • Provide a summary of the interview. (Do not include a question/answer of the entire interview)
  • Explain how burnout is different from compassion fatigue.
  • Identify the signs that are key indicators of burnout.
  • Explain the levels or stages of burnout that the interviewee experienced.
  • Describe prevention strategies that the interviewee finds helpful in the field.

Burnouts and compassion fatigue cases are prevalent in organizations. An organization
should be aware of these cases and invent ways to address them. The failure to deal with burnout
and compassion fatigue negatively impacts the performance of an employee. This paper gives an
overview an interview of a caretaker, difference between burnout and compassion fatigue.
Further, provide the indicators of burnout and levels of burnouts. In addition, provide the
prevention strategies of burnout, that can helpful for workers while providing human services.
An interview with the caretaker points out the existence of burnout and compassionate
fatigue in an organization. The caretakers indicate countless times when burnout and
compassionate fatigue has been evident in her work life. The interviewee narrates
circumstances when the burnout ruled her work life as well as compassion fatigue. Lack of
control makes it impossible realizing satisfaction and competence results to burnout to workers.
Employees feel to be in control when they take charge of tasks and their outcomes. The
interviewee attested to a feeling of burnout every time she is not given a responsibility and
autonomy in the workplace. In addition, lack of access to resources and tool to do the work
results in feelings of lack of control (John, 2015).
Other circumstances leading to burnouts are lack of teamwork, unfair treatment, failure
