The paper must be 5-7 pages in length, double-spaced, and typed in 12-point Times New Roman font. Tables and figures are encouraged, and a reference list (using the reference format for the journal MARINE MAMMAL SCIENCE) is mandatory; the reference list is not included in the 5-7 page requirement. At least 10 sources from the primary literature should be used and cited. Impact on Climate Change on Marine Mammals
Introduction
Climate change is a change in the regional or global climate which is linked to an
increase in the concentration of the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. The global climate
change is changing the state of the oceans in the world which serves as habitats for the marine
mammals. Marine mammals are aquatic mammals that have an adaptation to the aquatic life and
solely rely on the oceans and other water bodies for their growth reproduction as well as their
habitat. Examples of the marine mammals are the whales, sea otters, polar bears as well as seal
among others Grech and Marsh (2017). The climate change affects the global marine life in
various dimensions. It has several impacts on the marine animals within the entire globe. This
paper will focus on the effects of climate change in the marine animals as well as which evidence
is there of the impacts today.
Results
To begin with is that climate changes bring about the rise of the sea levels in various
parts of the world. Most of the mammals’ species of the seals as well as the sea lions depend on
the sea beaches to give birth, res as well as nurse their pups Baylis et al. 2011a. They are no
longer in a position to carry out this in the sea beaches. This is because, as a result of the change
in the global climate, their high temperatures that are warming the water, the land ice is also
melting and all this result to the rising of the sea level in the globe. With this, the marine
mammals are consequently losing a significant habitat for their beaches. In some scenarios for
example in Hawaii where there are low lying highlands, the rise in the sea levels has highly
endangered the Hawaiian monk seals which estimated to have lost approximately 50 percent
