To get started, you may want to brainstorm events in your life.  Think about major life changes.  Think about what has made you who you are today.  Consider what has shaped your personality and identity and the moments or events that brought about an epiphany.

Assessment Description Some of the concepts in social studies can be abstract and may seem more theoretical and less practical for an early childhood teacher. To make these concepts relevant in ways that are personal and important to the early childhood learner, early childhood educators must identify resources to provide a foundation or experience that improves the background knowledge of learners.  For this assignment, create a resource guide for new early elementary teachers in your district. The guide will include a variety of developmentally appropriate social studies tools and resources, such as books, movies, charts, posters, worksheets, activities, websites, games, technology tools, etc. The tools and resources in this booklet should be current, ensure accessibility and relevance for all students and should maximize learning of the standards. Select a grade level K-3 and identify at least three social studies standards for that grade on which to focus. Select at least three social studies tools and resources for each standard that integrate cultural background, personal knowledge, family, and community of the early childhood students.
