Theatre Project Found Space Stage Theatre art performance is something humanity has continued to appreciate since time immemorial. However, there are usually challenges in how to create a better stage to give the audience an unforgettable experience worth remembering. An artist is always positive as their works are inner motivated and created through imagination to present something appealing and which connects to the audience. In that consideration, in writing of my theater project I have made significant consideration on the best way to create a convenient stage for the audience. I have chosen the Found Space stage as the preference as it provides the basic necessities of a complete stage. As a student, City Lens Found Space, New Jersey, they organized a theatre in public areas within the city offered quite an audience and also helps to cut on budget due to financial limitation. For a time I have been involved in a community group, City Lens, that focuses on addressing social issues through art to make it easier in a sarcastic way for the audience to understand the nature of our society. We have participated in a handful of theatres and often we are overwhelmed by funds obligations in regards to rent and issues with ticket pricing. City Lens Found Space the better alternative as issues of renting and ticketing becomes a thing of the past as the stage is open and all is needed is the cast and accessories to supplement the performance. The decision to use an open space is originally financial but I have come to appreciate other benefits such as seating, lighting provided naturally, and set design for a nice background needed while building a show that comes in play freely. City Lens Found Space theatre was focused on presenting strong theatre set pieces to ensure that all underprivileged in the community are reached. Considering the love of art in the street of New Jersey, we hoped to tell a story that could steal the stage and create comfort and it is powerful how our passions can be used as tools to give hope and a way to understanding the society. Choosing a place at the centre of the New Jersey where people are always available offers a ready audience. The stage for the even had been identified in New Jersey. On this project, the groups hopes to present to the audience a series of acts i.e. spoken word, painting and cultural artifacts. The spoken word will be accompanied by posters on anti-child abuse and set pieces of artwork inspired by child protection and domestic violence themes. The characters in this case as illustrated in the photos will be a few children and me as the main speaker. Involving the children in the play enhances the visual representation to create a connection to the audience. Other elements will be taken by myself as the presenter of spoken word and will display a series placards and the set pieces will be in the background. The children received loads of appreciation in the arts industry. To create a theatre atmosphere I had to wear costumes to create a needed mood. For the children characters that underwent training trusted all they needed to do to participate in the act performance. Setting the stage will be a simple case as only an audible microphone and sound proof speakers will be pre-installed plus the set-pieces put in strategic position. For the audience, the arena is ready for occupation on the ground as we will clean it up to remove the dust; it is upon the audience to choose on how they will watch the performance. The focus of the project is to ensure that the audience does not feel that were are giving too much or becoming sensitive. Through our presentation I hope the audience will become part of the story, breathe the same air and connect emotionally as the characters to prompt a course of action in reaching out to the society to eliminate the vices. A masterpiece of child abuse: The cracks in the child’s faces symbolize how child abuse leaves a destroyed childhood exposing him to the society. Photo 2: A poster on the effects of domestic violence on children Illustration of child abuse resulting to fear. The photo will be displayed on the stage to create the need by using ethos, logos to appeal the audience. Child abuse promotes has dire psychological consequences on their well being exposing them to becoming fearful of the unknown.
