Midterm exam- physics
1. Physics is considered a basic science because other science subjects uses the
laws of physics. These subjects include chemistry, biology, astrology and
geology. Chemistry is considered to be a central science because it is linked to
physical science which is a subject of physics. Other sciences are using the laws
of physics and phenomenon
2. The potential energy at a height is the work done in lifting the object to that height
with no change in kinetic energy. The weight of the object is equals to the force
used to lift he object. When the object is released to the ground the potential
energy PE is transformed to kinetic energy KE.
PE = mgh where m is the mass of the object, g is the gravitational force and h is
the height of the object above the ground.

object is falling.
It is best because to “give” lengthens the time of impact hence less force. Other
instances are catching a soccer ball and hitting the baseball.
The impulse and the force will be in opposite directions but the same magnitude.
The change in momentum will also be equal for both. The bass is moving faster
because of the small mass.
