A. Epidemiological problems are population health problems peculiar to given society
and people.
B. The city I live where this research will be conducted is Homestead in Florida – it is a
city that includes diverse population and agriculture as main industry, and several
significant epidemiological concerns influence the health of its population.

Key Epidemiological Issues in Homestead
A. An area of major concern with regards to epidemiology in Homestead is a high rate of
diabetes, especially in the Hispanic community that constitutes a major part of
Homestead’s population.
B. People in this group are mostly involved in farming and have limited health care
provision for them, their genetic makeup and restricted economic capabilities make
them prone to developing this disease.
C. The second major concern is high blood pressure and like many other diseases, this
one too affects the African American population more in Homestead.
