Description
Good news! After your supervisor reads your email, they want to learn more about the logistics of instituting your transformative employee volunteering program at your workplace. They want you to create a procedural document that could be distributed to all staff, providing detailed instructions for employees who are interested in participating in your program.

By day 7
Part I: As a prewriting strategy, complete the Communication Context Worksheet for a set of instructions you will create for your colleagues, detailing the procedures they will follow while participating in your transformative employee volunteering program.
Note: The Communication Context Worksheet can be found in the Week 2 Learning Resources link.
Part II: Thinking back to your original proposal, use the guidelines you’ve learned this week and your completed Communication Context Worksheet to write a 1- to 2-page procedural document. Include a brief introduction and a set of instructions for employees who will participate in your workplace volunteering program.
- Your introduction should be concise, but provide enough detail, so your readers understand the volunteering opportunity, its value, and what is being asked of them.
- Be sure to fully explain the procedures your colleagues will follow while volunteering in your program.
- In your instructions, make sure you use Jarvis’s Alert, Orient, Act approach to inform your volunteering opportunity instructions.
Note: The submission link allows you to submit one file. Both Part 1, the completed Communication Context Worksheet, and Part 2, your procedural document, should be in a single file. Copy and paste Parts 1 and 2 to combine them into one document.
Note: Remember, this is an opportunity for you to use your imagination, so feel free to detail scope, deadlines, and instructions based on this week’s reading and what you think will work for your volunteering project.
- McMurrey, D. (n.d.). Instructions: Tell them how to do it!
