Short-term Decisions: Jim McMaster must decide on the number of employees who will
work on customized feeders on daily basis. This action will depend on the volume of sales
ordered because the number of sales varies considerably. To deal with this situation on an instant
basis, it is advisable that he trains employees from other departments in skill requiring
customized production to deal with emergency orders. The employees can work on customized
feeders during peak times and return to their original job duties in low times. There should be a
real-time update for orders through the internet that will provide information for daily production
target (Sarkis, 2003).
Long-term Decisions: These are improvements that would require extensive planning and
huge investments in accomplishing. Jim McMaster will have to increase the number of facilities
