Part 1
A look at picture 1 reveals several similarities with the earthworks of the hummingbird
on the Nazca Plains in Peru, the serpent mound with Smithson’s Spiral Jetty and Christo’s
running fence. The cup and ring marks on the earthworks in the picture closely resemble the
gigantic organic spiral created by Robert Smithson. The spirals in picture 1 look like a smaller
version of the great serpent mound. One of the ends of the serpent mound is coiled so that it
looks exactly like the cup and ring marks on the earthworks in picture 1. The Nazca lines located
in the Nazca desert consist of a series of lines which appear to create a humming bird. Though
they fail to show any close resemblance to the cup and ring earthworks, they share a similarity in
that the blend between the lines on the earthworks create patterns that are similar to living things.
Christo’s running fence also exhibits similarity with picture 1 as it appears like a slithering...
