The Judgment of Thamus: summary one
Thamus, who was the king of the great city of Upper Egypt in his own opinion was against
the invention of writing by Theuth. He argued that the students will no longer use their internal
resources for memory purposes but rather depend on the writings, making them have the conceit
of wisdom and lack the real wisdom. Thamus believed that the use of writing will eradicate the
natural wisdom and therefore could be a source of burden to the society in the long run. Thamus
was against how Theuth could just see things only in positive dimension but rather analyze both
