Discussion response! Response 1 Adrianna: 1. For me, I think completing an outline with developing the thesis and key points and then the collection of resources was very useful. The outline was helpful as it helped me organize and build my thesis statement and the key points I would use to back my thesis. The collecting of resources was helpful as I was able to have notes from each of my sources, any quotes or information I wanted to have in my paper, and I was able to quickly find them to be able to use as a resource during each stage of my writing. I'm about halfway through my bachelor's degree and anticipate that I will be writing many papers as I progress through my degree. These writing strategies will be useful to my writing and will help me organize my future papers. 2. I struggled with writing my paper from a persuasive point. I needed to work more on my arguments and counterarguments for my key points. I should have spent more time on planning those out. I also struggled with correctly citing my resources as I used my notes that I got reading through them all to write out my paper so when I was writing it I didn't think about where I got that from. Going forth I will be more mindful of that and will notate it in my notes so I will prop erly cite my facts. 3. The "Developing a Thesis Statement" video and the "Persuasive Essay Outline Template" were both very helpful for me. The Thesis one helped me understand how to even start to build a thesis statement. This will be useful for any paper going forth as a well written paper will have a strong, well-developed thesis and this resource guides in just how to form one. The "Persuasive Essay Outline Template" was very beneficial as it helped me build my outline and structure out my paragraphs correctly. It gave me starting points, reminded me to add in counterarguments, and include something from my resources. If I have to write more persuasive essays, I will refer back to this template to assist me with the building of my essay as I would have struggled more so without it. Response 2: Jacob Throughout this course, I found that using an outline was one of the most useful writing strategies. It helped me structure my thesis and key points, making it easier to develop my argument. Understanding the overall structure of a paper gave me a clearer sense of what questions I needed to answer. However, I also realized that I should have taken more advantage of peer review. I now see that getting feedback from more experienced peers could have provided valuable guidance and confirmation of my understanding before the final submission. Peer review would have been a great opportunity to identify weaknesses and refine my work, ultimately leading to a better grade. I appreciate this learning experience and look forward to improving my writing skills in the future. One of the main challenges I faced in developing my argument was integrating sources effectively. After rereading the Macmillan Achieve section on "Tips for Integrating Sources," I realized that I did not always meet the criteria. Additionally, I struggled to find specific case studies that provided strong, concrete evidence. Many of the sources I used felt opinion-based, but by the time I noticed this, I had already committed too much time to my original choices. Moving forward, I plan to study how to incorporate sources more effectively. Two resources that I plan to use in future writing assignments are the APA Formatting Playlist and the Research Cycle Video. The APA formatting playlist would have helped me ensure that my citations and formatting met the assignment's expectations. Meanwhile, the research cycle video could have guided me toward choosing a better topic from the start, preventing some of the struggles I faced with weak sources. These resources seem applicable to most writing situations, and I plan to incorporate them into future academic and professional projects. Looking back, I believe that spending more time with these resources earlier in my writing process would have significantly improved my final work. Instead of focusing mainly on wording, I would have put more effort into structuring my essay properly. This experience has shown me the importance of planning, peer feedback, and research strategies, and I look forward to refining my approach in future assignments. Response: Chris 1. Of all the research and writing strategies covered in this course, from gathering sources to writing an outline to working on revisions, which have been most useful for you? Share at least two strategies. How can you apply these strategies in future courses and/or outside the classroom? The research strategies that have been most useful has been writing an outline and having a draft. Writing an outline made me think of the entire essay and how I am going to organize it. The outline also made me look out for the right sources I was going to use and how my argument would look like. Writing the draft and getting feedback was very important as I got to understand the things that my essay missed and that I needed to improve on. These strategies can be applied outside class especially if there is a report that I need to reconcile. Writing an outline will help me plan ahead and know contents of a given report while writing drafts will help refine the final report that I will get submitted. 2. What challenges did you face in developing your argument? What could you have done differently? If you aren't sure what you could have done to improve, ask a question to your peers about what they found useful. I had an issue with my thesis which in turn affected the flow of my essay. I decided to read my essay aloud in order to identify where it was lacking. I think I should have engaged the professor early so that I could get his help and thoughts o how to improve my writing. 3. Review the packing list located in the module resources page and identify at least two resources you will apply the next time you're given a writing assignment, whether in school, work, or life. When answering consider the following: o Why do you think these resources will be useful? I think resources on structuring an essay and revision strategies would be very useful now and in future. The first video will help show how a good essay looks like while the second will give you tips on how to make revision on your already written draft. o How might you adapt or change these resources for a different writing project? The first resource would be how to structure a report while the second one would be how to revise a report draft. o How did these two resources help you with the project you just completed? These resources helped me know how to structure my entire essay and have a good flow of ideas. I also got to understand different approaches I could use to revise my draft and come up with a better final draft.

you that the lessons we learned on developing outlines, gathering scholarly sources, developing
persuasive arguments, and citing them were instrumental in enhancing our literal skills. Outlines,
