Barriers to Cloud Computing

Cloud computing involves the use of remote servers which are hosted over the network.
The remote servers provide services and other operations such as processing data, storing it as
well as managing. Most of the organizations tend to use cloud computing in order to solve their
technological problems. Although cloud computing seems advantageous, there are barriers which
need to be overcome in order to adopt it.
Loss of control
Since the servers are located remotely you do not have total control over them since it is
hard to access them physically. A good example is where you want to shut down the server
manually but you can make it since you are not physically available to the remote servers. Even
system administrators who have been used to control the machines within premises feel demoted
to users when services are to cloud computing.
In order to overcome this barrier, non-critical services can be taken bit by bit to the cloud
services and make sure all the users affected are part of the process. The system administrators
should be provided with tools to control servers with full permission as if they were on the
premises (Avram, 2014).
Data Security
Security is a major concern when it comes to cloud computing. Cloud computing
provides data security services such as providing a backup plan but organizations are afraid as
well. The host company can steal important information about the organization which can be
sold to the industrial spies.

Barriers to Cloud Computing
In order to overcome this kind of barrier, the organizations can use best practices for
cloud computing. This includes encryption of data to be stored in the cloud computing and
adopting hybrid cloud computing. In hybrid cloud computing, the sensitive data can be left
within the organization while the other data can be moved to the cloud.
Most of the best cloud services are costly and they need to be paid every year. The cost
makes most of the organizations not to adopt cloud services. They prefer to create their own
private cloud hence minimizing the cost needed every year (Avram, 2014).
In this case, data ...
