Developing a boutique hotel is an exciting venture but also has its own share of
challenges. Firstly, one may encounter challenges in the process of design and architecture
(Melissen, Cavagnaro, Damen & Duweke, 2015). Notably, one of the defining features of a
boutique hotel is that it must be able to create its own identity or personality which is
different from that of the typical hotels. The goal of the process of design and architecture is
to make sure that the boutique hotel has an intimate, unique, and stylish environment that
would make a customer return. Secondly, a challenge may emerge when isolating a target
market. For the boutique hotel to be successful, it must successfully be able to establish a
niche in the market by focusing its efforts on a selected market. This may be a challenge
given that the market is already saturated. The third challenge is ensuring that the boutique
hotel offers their customers unique services. It is quite difficult to offer the customers unique
