People are often advised to seek counseling to deal with various situations that they
encounter in their daily lives. It is in this regard that vocational rehabilitation clinicians, and
standard mental health clinicians, get their mandate to practice. Although both works to achieve
a similar goal, their job description, as well as their treatment ideology, differ in many ways.
Vocational counselors are mandated by the federal government or the state to empower the
individuals with disabilities to achieve employment which is in tandem with their strengths.
Their primary goal is to restore their patients to their primary vocational functions in the society
(Lloyd, 2010). One of the primary methods used by vocational clinicians is the utilization of the
medical, health and financial information to develop a return to work assessment modules.
Through this information, the vocational counselors can determine the physical demand
levels of a job before final analysis of the return to work issues to be encountered. Also, the
