When the former president of the United States Barack Obama took to the office, his
administration gave the first priority to healthcare reforms. This was done to improve the thendeteriorating health services in the country and improve the well-being of the citizens. As such,
Barack Obama came up with the Obama Healthcare Bill, that entailed the patient protection, and
affordable care act otherwise shortened ACA or also dubbed the ‘Obamacare.’ As a result of this
bill, a massive change has been witnessed in the US since the inception of Obamacare. This
paper, therefore, will explore the impacts of the bill on different areas such as health insurance,
health insurance industry, the United States population, the US economy, wall street and on
myself as an individual.
On March 2010, the then president of the US Barack Obama signed into law the Obama
health care bill, and this led to new changes in the health sector. The ACA was enacted to make
sure that all American can access affordable health insurance which in turn leads to access to
quality health services (Béland, Rocco & Waddan, 2016). This bill has been instrumental in the
US healthcare sector albeit it has also has been under scrutiny due to some controversial
surround the ACA. Generally, the bill has since then impacted different areas differently.
