I am also certain that I see by using my eyes. 2. State two facts that you are certain will never change. One fact I am certain will never change is that gravity affects mass. Another fact that I am certain will never change is that atoms contain electrons. 3. State two facts that you are certain will change. One fact that I am certain will change is that I am alive. Another fact I am certain will change is that I am a student. Page 83 1. Discuss a belief that you feel absolutely certain about. Discuss a belief that you are uncertain about. I am absolutely certain about various laws of physics, such as the laws of gravity. I believe that these laws are accurate because I can witness and experience them myself, but also because many other people have studied them and tested them. I am uncertain about whether it is impossible to travel through time. Right now, I believe it is impossible, but I think that human beings do not understand the nature of the universe completely, and so it might be possible. 2. Give an example of some methods used to suppress critical thinking. Methods to suppress critical thinking include government or other kinds of censorship. If the government bans certain kinds of speech or writing, people will not be able to share ideas freely, and their thinking will not be challenged. Another method is peer pressure. People will try to influence others in their group to go along with their accepted beliefs and might shun someone who thinks differently. This can frighten people into avoiding critical thought. ---------------------3(with one comment)------------------------------- Page 82 1. I am certain that my small dog has small paws. I am also certain that uncovered pool water will be cold. 2. I know that the sun will always rise in the morning. I also know that my natural hair color will always be black. 3. I know that people can change from experience. I also know that if I leave an apple core to rot it will change. Page 83 1. I am absolutely believe that I can teach people how to swim. I know this because I have 15 years of experience and I like to work with kids/people. I am uncertain that I can teach the game rules of water polo since I have less experience. I did it for a year and I can do drills and techniques but I don't have confidence that I can teach the entire sport. 2. Some examples of suppressing critical thinking is ignoring your feelings towards things for example, ignoring how one will transfer schools or avoiding the inevitable in the future. (comment) Hi Allison, These are very good examples! However, I will challenge the one about your natural hair color always being black. When you get older, your hair may become gray or white. I like your idea about how ignoring negative feelings and suppressing them can be a way of suppressing critical thinking. Sometimes we convince ourselves of the best even when we recognize problems, but the nagging negative feeling is a warning that we could be making a mistake. ----------------4(with one comment)---------------------------------- Page. 82 1. I am certain that ten multiplied by ten is equal to one hundred. I am certain that Mexico beat Germany in the 2018 World Cup. 2. I am certain that you cannot get what you have already lost you can only replace. I know that water is made up of two hydrogen atoms and an oxygen atom. 3. The sun will shine forever. My phone will last my entire life. Page 83 1. I am certain that we are not the only source of life in our universe, I believe that there are other planets that contain life but there is no way to prove it at the moment. Although I have been playing soccer for a while I am not sure that I will be able to make it pro. 2. When someone makes fun of someone for sharing an idea on something and gets made fun of, that someone might overtime grow to be shy and could cause the person to stop thinking critically. As well if not given proper guidance in how to analyze and observe things could could affect how someone might think critically. (comment) you are right about germany. true about water . About the sun one day , I think he will blast off . I m not sure is the sun is eternal. true about other planet that contain life. -----------5(with one comment)-------------------- 1. State two facts that you are certain will change. • • Earth is the only planet with lives, and ecosystem. Plastic can’t be degrade. 1. Discuss a belief that you feel absolutely certain about. Discuss a belief that you are uncertain about. I believe most of facts that based on science. Anything that can be proved is what I will feel absolutely certain about. However, I do believe 1+1=2, but it haven’t been proved yet. I am uncertain about supernatural things, but sometimes I do belief that they exist. Things that can’t be explained by science but happened are what I believe but uncertain about. 2. Give an example of some methods used to suppress critical thinking. Experiences and intuition will suppress one’s way of critical thinking. People always acts before thinking, and they choose to believe what they have experienced and their intuition. Even sometime a thing has been proved by science and logics, some people will still think about it in their way which will make the result worse. (comment) true about sun and moon. I like the example about tree flammable and ice melting. everything is not explain by science. this is true.

The ideas presented here are definitely true and valid. On being certain that the
healthy boy would like to learn how to fight, I think it is worth stating how you
know that he would to know how to fight. For instance, did he tell you that or did
you deduce from the determination he puts in his practice? If you neglect
education you will not be able to learn new ideas or think about better ways of
doing things, or challenge yourself and this way critical thinking wil...
