Nam June Paik was a Korean American artist that was present from the 20th of July 1932
to the 29th of January 2006. The artist was involved in different varieties of media, and the sole
founder of video art. Furthermore, he was appreciated for the use of the term electronic
superhighway; he applied the term in telecommunication aspects through his artistic works. Paik
was born in 1932 in Korea but flee from the nation because of the war in Korea. Hence, Paiks’
family migrated to Hong Kong and later to Japan. Nam June Paik graduated six years later from
the University of Tokyo, after he migrated to Japan. In the University of Tokyo in Japan, Paik
made a great step ahead after he wrote a thesis on the composer Arnold Schoenberg. Due to the
love of music, Paik moved to Germany to study music. He enrolled in Munich University alongside
composer Thrasybulos Georgiades to study the history of music. In addition to that, Paik met with
other composers; John Cage and Karlheinz Stockhausen at the university (Hölling, 2013).
Nam June Paik had a lot of influences from his artistic work. For instance, through his
career, Paik wrote about the "video common market." This aspect allowed the free spread of artistic
work. In addition to that, dialogue, collaboration, and also education was provided by this video
common market on an international market. Hence, his skills and knowledge are still used in the
