First one : 1. Strategic planning is a organizational management action that is used to set goal, focus energy and resources. Its effort is to produce fundamental decisions and actions that shape what the organization really is, who it serves, and why it does it. Strategic planning is necessary because it guides an organization to reach its measurable goals. The mission is to build a company up so that it will produce and serve its purpose. In order to accomplish that goals need to be set to and procedures needs to be in place. Without a plan unnecessary resources my be used causing the company to lose profit. Gartenstein, Devra (2018, April 20) Why is Strategic Planning Important to Organization? Retrieved from https://yourbusiness.azcentral.com/strategic-planning-importantorganization-4103.html 2. All management know that strategy is important. Strategic planing is not necessary because not all organizations needs a developed plan to be successful. At the same time this will leave the organization to make haste decisions not knowing the possible consequences. For example fundrasiers, charity events and pledge campaign. Strategic planning is used to justify putting decisions on hold or avoid making a decision. Just because a strategic plan is placed dosent mean the organization is going to succeed. Sometimes making decisions based on the economy is the best way to operate. The world is constantly changing based of what people feel comfortable with. Masaoka, Jan Strategic Planning: Failures and Alternatives Retrived from http://www.blueavocado.org/content/strategic-planning-failures-andalternatives 3.Strategic planning defines with a company mission. Goals are expressed in a company achievement.I think having a strategic plan is a good way to start off a organization. The reason why is because having a plan you will be able to somewhat dictate the direction of it. Having a plan will give a better chance to succeeded at what you are trying to reach. If it does not work exactly how you want then the backup plan will become in action. Having a plan will also set goals to accomplish so that you will have something to work towards. Second Strategic planning is necessary for reasons such as direction and measurable goals as a way to define success. Strategies are essential to the business place to ensure everything follows regulations for safety reasons as well as the overall outcome of your product. These plans should be well thought out to gain the most from them and also be realistic. It is easy to come up with an idea or product that could be deemed more convenient or revolutionary, but the real question is always how will you make that reality. How do you get from the starting point to this product or idea, what guidance are you providing the people working towards this goal? How do you measure/determine the quality of work and when it will be available? All these pieces fall under this planning phase, which is an extreme part of how successful it is. Strategic planning to some may seem to hinder or provide no less reward. As we all know the planning process can take a great amount of time, time amount to resources, and resources require funds. Things such as cost-based thinking may lead us into a comfort trap that results in the product not being the best it can be. The amount of money spent on planning could have been used on the actual project. There are many factors that come into play, that our original plan did not amount for and we have to transition to “plan b”. Was the original plan unnecessary? Could there have been something we could do to prevent these unforeseen outcomes? These are reasons strategic planning can seem to hinder, since we don’t know what the future has in store. We’re merely just accessing different possibilities for an uncertain outcome. In my opinion I believe planning is a major part of the process, for delegation purposes and to have an outline of what needs to be done to reach an outcome. Essentially, if done right, it should lead to less confusion (saving money) because everyone is on the same page and as a company or team we’ll know how to make adjustments if needed (which could save us time in the ending). If you have a goal with no plan or way to achieve it, it’s merely just a good idea. Without planning there is no product or service.
