First, read the article, then provide thoughtful, reading-informed answers to these questions:

1. What is Hardin’s key concern ? Be specific, min. 1 page.

2. What evidence is Hardin presenting ? Carefully explore and reflect, min. 0.5 page.

3. What solutions (and agenda) is he suggesting ? Carefully read and reflect, min. 1 page.

The purpose of this reading-discussion is to develop: (i) an understanding of an influential population-environment debate; (ii) an ability to recognize facts, and therefore distinguish science from pseudoscience; (iii) awareness of influential (Eurocentric) ideologies, and the role they play in shaping dominant population control, land use etc. policies.

2. Choose one more complex environment-focused issue that got your attention the most. 1 page.

3. What role do you as a citizen and consumer play in the global context that the movie is exploring? Reflect, be thoughtful and specific, 1 page.

Thoughtful, focused writing that demonstrates engagement with the assigned materials: To receive full credit, you must make it clear that you have read the reading or watched the movie fully and have reflected on it. This means that you use details and examples straight from the reading/video in your responses and that these examples represent key themes form the assigned material.

3. Relevance to the assigned materials: To receive full credit, you are asked to answer all questions and each of your answers must be based on the assigned material and not just personal anecdotes, general reflections etc. It is ok to additionally include your personal reflections to the assigned material in your essays.

4. Edit (i.e. spelling, grammar, meaningful sentences and paragraphs).
