Seniority mostly represents the longer a particular employee has been in a particular
job compared to others. It, therefore, recognizes some people as more superior than others
especially in the know about the ways and cultures of such a workplace hence calls for some
form of adherence to the rules such people give to those who are regarded as their juniors
especially when they are promoted to higher ranks. It also helps the management to
adequately pass the rules and regulations to new members because some already have better
knowledge of the system.
