Running Head: Discussion
Article 1: Handling large data using NOSQL databases.
The article discusses the implementation of NoSQL databases so as to give an
understanding of currently available tools and how to use them. This is in relation to the current
increase of web-based applications which store and interact with huge amounts of data and
therefore giving a challenge to the traditional Relational Database Management systems which
have been in use since the 1970s. The article gives a comparison between NoSQL databases and
RDBMS databases and discusses some important concepts about the two. A good example given
is that NoSQL databases allow a single node system to distribute data to other nodes once a node
reaches its storage which is different from RDBMS which is not designed to allow distribution
and thus making adding of new nodes more expensive. Finally, the article talks about different
types of NoSQL databases such as key-value and wide column.
Article 2: Similar data access basis for NoSQL and SQL databases.
The article proposes a type of data integration technique that allows querying data stored
in heterogeneous databases. With the rise in popularity for NoSQL databases, the integr...
