Commedia dell’arte Mask - Project 3
________________________________________________________________
IS 318 The Mask
Purpose
Your final mask for this class will be a representation of one of the three traditional Commedia
dell’arte characters incorporating your own artistic aesthetic. After choosing one of the three
characters (Dottore, Pantalone, or Zanni) you will then create a mask out of paper mache using
one or a combination of the processes you have learned in this class.
Objectives
This mask is based on a traditional character and through skills learned in this class you will be
able to create a mask that showcases your character while showing off your creativity through
design choices. Each character has its own unique features that will need to be incorporated into
the mask. By adding your own personal touch to this mask you will help to create a unique
character rooted in a traditional way of performing.
Checklist
• Create a mask based on your chosen character.
• Use the elements and principles of design to strengthen your character while
emphasizing the traditional elements of your mask.
Requirements
Create your own unique mask that will be a representation of one of the Commedia dell’arte
characters. Using your understanding of the elements and principles of art, create a mask that is
unified so that there is nothing that needs to be added or taken away from the mask for it to be
complete. How well your mask communicates your character on its own will be incorporated into
the grade. This mask will also be a part of your final performance.
Evaluation
Your mask will be graded on the following five concepts: Problem Completion, Innovative Idea
Development, Design & Composition, Technical Skills, Preparation & Participation. Please review
The Sample Grade Sheet for further descriptions.
I have a class called The Mask and we do have to act but first we need to a research on the characters
the names of the characters.
1. Pantalone
2. Zanni
3. Il Dottore (The Doctor)
I will pick the character Zanni.
to due your research on Pantalone, Dottore and Zanni and choose which character you
want to build and portray for your final performance. I am looking for a little history of the
character as well as their movements and why you choose this character. Minimum 2 pages
uploaded to canvas before you begin your mask.

CTC The Rise of the Italian Renaissance in the 1500s Research Paper
Western Civilization I Requirements A core writing assignment for this course is a Research Paper (1200-1500 words). The essay should support a thesis statement with information gained from research or investigation. The paper will not be just a report presenting information but will be a paper that carefully examines and presents your own historical interpretation of the topic you have chosen and your interpretation of the information you have gathered. It may include consideration of problems and solutions. It may define key terms. It will be important to choose a topic of interest to you and to an academic audience. Approach this assignment with an open and skeptical mind, a willingness to look at all sides of an issue and then form an opinion based on what you have discovered. You must suspend belief while you are investigating and let the discoveries shape your opinion. (This is a thesis-finding approach.) Once you have found your thesis, write the paper to support it.You will use some of the following critical thinking skills in this process:1. Choosing an appropriate topic, limiting the topic - a common mistake is to choose a topic that is too large for this length of paper. For example, if you wanted to choose “religion” as a topic, it would then be necessary to narrow that topic down by isolating a specific religion, period of time, an issue associated with it, or some key aspect that could serve as a focused topic for this length of paper.2. Gathering information, summarizing sources3. Analyzing and evaluating sources4. Defining key terms5. Synthesizing information6. Amassing support for a position7. Documenting sourcesBecause this may be a longer essay than you have written before and a complex process is involved, do this paper in the following steps:1. Choose a topic related to Western Civilization to approx. 1500 that you would truly like to explore and that you are willing to spend some time on. This should be a focused topic. Pose a question that you really want to answer. You may want to begin with more than one topic in mind.2. Do some preliminary reading on the topic(s). Explore the information available. Refine your topic. Summarize your topic, your interest in the topic, the questions you want to answer, and a hypothesis you want to test.3. Gather information from both primary and secondary sources (personal testimonies, interviews, official documents, books, articles, film, websites). Use a minimum of four sources for your paper, and at least one must be a primary source (a source contemporary to the topic—primary sources are embedded throughout our textbook). NOTE: do NOT use the textbook as one of your sources.4. Outline the results of your research and the plan for your essay.5. Write the final draft, with a Works Cited List, using correct MLA documentation style.http://writing.wisc.edu/Handbook/DocMLA.htmlThe paper should be uploaded via the assignment link below. The due date for this paper is by the end of Lesson 8. If it is not completed prior to the end of the term you will lose one grade level on the paper. Be sure to read and understand the Scholastic Dishonesty policy, which may be accessed by the link in the course menu. Every paper that is submitted is run against a database of books, articles, internet information and other student papers from all over the US and other sources. The instructor will see a percent of matches to other work, so do not cut and paste your whole paper - it will show when graded. Give credit where an author is quoted. Please do not write your paper by cut and paste. The SafeAssign database will show the percent that you have copied, and if it is high, it will be obvious that the paper contains the work of someone else who has published or submitted a paper that is in the system.Western Civilization II Requirements A core writing assignment for this course is a Research Paper (1200-1500 words). CJUS5005 The University Of Louisiana Offender Profiling Goals Paper
Holmes and Holmes (1999 & 2009) note that psychological profiling has three goals as follows:1. Provide a social and psychological assessment of the offender(s),2. Serve as a psychological evaluation of relevant possessions found with suspected offenders,3. Provide law enforcement with strategies that should be used when interviewing offenders.Holmes and Holmes also state that profiling is only appropriate in cases in which the unknown offender shows signs of psychopathology or the crime is particularly violent or ritualistic. Crimes such as rape and arson are considered amenable to profiling techniques. With the above noted, explain to me how well profiling tends to meet each of the three goals listed (example: does profiling do well with #1 but not #2 and #3, or does it work well with #1 and #3, but not so much with #2). Further, be sure to note if the useful aspects of profiling has more to do with predictive models developed through statistical analyses or if it has more to do with clinical and/or criminological expertise.

Data Analysis: Thematic Analysis and Presentation of Results QUALI wk9
Question CXU9A Discussion: Coding, Categories, and Themes Qualitative researchers approach data collection with an appreciation of the data sources (the participants, documents, etc.) as the key to understanding the phenomenon of interest. The same is true for data analysis. The researcher chooses an approach or approaches in order to systematically move through the words and images to identify codes, categories and themes that will reflect the sources’ experience. A code is a word or short phrase that assigns an attribute, idea, or quality to a portion of text or visual data. A category is a collection of these codes that share attributes, meaning, and/or intent. It is also labeled with a word or short phrase. A theme is developed from one or more categories and can represent a “manifest” (directly observable) or “latent” (underlying) aspect of the phenomenon. For this Discussion, you will examine coding, categories, and themes in your qualitative data you previously collected. To prepare for this Discussion: Review Chapter 8 of the Ravitch and Carl text and Chapter 12 of the Rubin and Rubin text and consider the differences in coding, categories, and themes. Use the Course Guide and Assignment Help found in this week’s Learning Resources to search for books, encyclopedias and articles related to coding, categories, and themes in qualitative research. Review your coding of your phone interview transcript. Identify two or more codes that could be grouped into a category. Next, identify samples of text you chose to define the codes. Do the same for one of the Scholars of Change videos that you coded. Consider if you can detect a theme emerging from your data analysis process. If you can identify a theme, name and describe it. If you cannot, consider why this is the case. Write an explanation of the differences between codes, categories, and themes. Provide examples from your work. Use your Learning Resources and the article you found to support your explanation.
