Cost, funding and risks
Expanding a business to operate globally may be a rewarding as well as a daunting
venture. Therefore, before starting operations in a given area, it is important to give careful
consideration the business idea, analyzing the necessary charges that may be incurred during
startup and the downsides that come along with the investment. While expanding into global
market, it is necessary to analyze the economic conditions that affect the startup costs and
financing alternatives in order to offer accurate startup costs, financing alternatives and give
suitable recommendations.
Economic environment
The economic environment of the target location is essential in the determination of the
viability of a business in the area. Investors should consider the targeted culture and how it
influences the business. When conducting a research on the market area, analysis of the people’s
culture and norms gives insight on how much the potential customers will embrace the products
and services offered. Being a tourist town, culture has insignificant influence on the transport
industry in Punta Cana. Most transport services offered in the area give tourists a chance to drive
themselves in hired cars. However, a review of the views of tourists on the driving experience is
quite negative and most of them preferred to be driven by the locals, who are familiar with the
routes, able to cope with aggressive driving as well as the many scooters and motor bikes in the
area. The preference to get convenient taxi services gives Uber an advantage as their services are
easily accessible and may be preferred over local cab services in Punta Cana.
