Description

Final Paper about the Consequences of an amnesty for illegal immigrants

  1. Introduction, Research Question, and Hypothesis: This section shall provide an overview of the topic that you are writing about, a concise synopsis of the issues, and why the topic presents a “puzzle” that prompts your research questions, which you will include. This section will be 1-2 pages. This section can be preceded by an epigraph that creates interest in the topic. Ensure that you follow proper format for epigraphs!! .
  2. Review of the Literature: All research projects include a literature review to set out for the reader what knowledge exists on the subject under study and helps the researcher develop the research strategy to use in the study. A good literature review is a thoughtful study of what has been written, a summary of the arguments that exist (whether you agree with them or not), arranged thematically. At the end of the summary, you should circle back to your research question that remains to be answered. It is written in narrative format and can be from 3-5 pages depending on the scope and length of the paper.
  3. Methodology and Research Strategy: This section provides the reader with a description of how you conducted the research. It explains what research approach you chose and why. It describes any special considerations and defines any limitations and terms specific to this project, if necessary. NOTE: SINCE YOU WILL NOT BE OPERATIONALIZING THE METHODS AND APPROACHES YOU CONSIDERED IN HW 5 AND HW6, YOU WILL PROBABLY WRITE A QUALITATIVE RESEARCH PAPER. SIMPLY STATE YOUR WORKING HYPOTHESIS AND THE VARIABLES THAT YOU HAVE IDENTIFIED FOR ANALYSIS.
  4. Findings and Analysis: This section provides the results of your research and the analytical arguments that will make as a result of your findings. In a quantitative project, this section would provide the results of the data collection and an analysis of what it illustrates in empirical terms. In a qualitative project – like yours – you will simply provide your analysis of the variables you identified and explain what your research findings are. How did your independent variable affect the outcome and your dependent variable?? Did you prove or disprove your hypothesis? What new information have you discovered, if any? This section could be 1-3 pages depending on the length of the paper and scope of the project.
  5. Conclusions: This section will contain the concluding analytical arguments based on what research has revealed to answer the research question. Like any conclusion, it should provide a synopsis of the project, the strategy, and the results and what they add to the body of knowledge. This section should also offer suggestions for avenues of future research for other scholars, as all knowledge is evolutionary. This section can be 1-2 pages depending on the scope of the project.
  6. References: This section will contain all references, cited in APA format and alphabetically arranged. Entitle this section as “References” and as you should use parenthetical citations throughout.

CONSEQUENCES OF AN AMNESTY FOR ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS

Consequences of an Amnesty for Illegal Immigrants
"The reason for many people coming into the US could be said in two words "Push and Pull".
People come here because some of them are pushed from their countries and some of them come
here for a better life and opportunity. Amnesty for illegal immigrants happened in US history for
many time and has both good and bad effects in the US."
-Professor K. Scotts Wong, Amnesty and Illegal Immigrants.
Introduction, Research Question, and Hypothesis
Many people usually have the desire of living a certain life that to them may seem
suitable and favorable. The urge of better living standards and for people to have a life that
would be full of opportunities usually drive many people into the United States. Many people
move into the US in search of greener pasture as many of them purport the country is full of
opportunities. This has led to many illegal migrants who move into the country with the proper
and correct documentation and some of these individuals usually end at the hands of the law. The
USA is leading in terms of illegal migrants who move into the country without following the
right channel. Many of the illegal migrants who are brought forward before the law in many
cases are usually subjected to deportation and some of them are usually offered amnesty by the
government. Amnesty for illegal migrants has always been a debatable issue in the country for
many past decades. Many also have the idea that illegal immigrants should never be prejudged
before they are kicked out of the country.
There are various questions that arise due to the issue of amnesty being granted to illegal
immigrants just like the former President Obama offered work permits to illegal immigrants.
What are the consequences that arise due to the granting of an amnesty to the illegal immigrants?
Are the illegal immigrants of any importance to the country? This topic of granting amnesty to

the illegal immigrants has been viewed to have many positive and negative consequences which
prompted the need and urge of the research. The hypothesis of the research is that through
granting of amnesty to the illegal immigrants it offers them the opportunity to rebuild again and
have the opportunity to achieve their desire dreams and the second chance of life. The
consequences of an amnesty for illegal immigrants would be explored in the research by trying
to figure out if or not it is good for the nation or to an individual.
Literature Review
The issue of amnesty to immigrants date back many years ago during the tenure of
President Ronald Reagan on November 6, 1986, where he signed into law the Immigration
Reform and Control Act of 1986 and granted amnesty to many undocumented immigrants who
were residing in the United States. Various individuals including George J. Borjas and Lamar
Smith written various articles about the issue of amnesty for illegal immigrants and all have
different backgrounds and opinions pertaining to the issue. Through the article written by Borjas,
he gives a background concerning the issue of amnesty in the US and how President Bush during
his tenure tries to solve the issue about illegal immigration and the negative consequences that...
