Description

Before Good Foods can implement a cloud-based service, the company wants to be sure to adequately plan the implementation. The company is concerned with system requirements, technical support, service performance, industry compliance, downtime, and data migration. As a Cloud-Based Service contractor, you know that the cloud delivery model will impact the steps Good Foods must take prior to implementation.

To complete this assignment, include the following information in a minimum of 5 pages (not counting title page and references page):

  • Describe the responsibility of a cloud services vendor during implementation, as it relates to each cloud delivery model. Include notes on the vendor's role as it relates to system requirements, service performance, industry compliance, downtime, and data migration, and responsibilities during implementation.
  • Describe the responsibility Good Foods must take during implementation, as it relates to each cloud delivery model. Include notes on Good Foods' role as it relates to system requirements, service performance, industry compliance, downtime, and data migration, and responsibilities during implementation.
  • Describe the expectations pre-implementation and post-implementation, as they relate to each cloud delivery model. Include notes on activities related to training, communication, technical support, and maintenance.
  • Review all of the following leading service providers from the list below and the cloud delivery model(s) offered by that provider:
    • Salesforce
    • Google
    • Hewlett-Packard
    • IBM
    • Rackspace
    • Microsoft
    • Amazon
  • Indicate which vendor(s) may be a fit for the Good Foods company, based on the company's current needs and the delivery method the vendor offers. Your recommendations should take into account Good Foods' current system architecture, number of users, and service requirements. Justify your recommendation and include specific examples from the needs of the Good Foods project to support your review.

Use APA formatting style (title page, references page, in-text citations).

When this paper is complete you should have properly identified the role and responsibilities of the vendor and Good Foods in the implementation plan, including notes on system requirements, service performance, industry compliance, downtime, and data migration. Your paper should also address expectations of activities pre-implementation and post-implementation of each cloud-based system, as well as a review all of the leading service providers. Lastly, you should have also identified potential cloud-based vendors who are a best fit for the company's needs.

CLOUD-BASED COMPUTING SERVICES

Cloud-based services should at least by now be familiar to almost every organization
around the world even if they have not yet implemented the same. To be clear, however, cloudbased services involves data sharing and control of the same via a cloud computing delivery
model offered by a cloud service provider. A cloud computing delivery model enables the
sharing of on-demand, convenient and ubiquitous network access within certain computing
resources which are configurable and can be easily released and provisioned with little
interaction and effort management from the service provider. These resources include services,
applications, storage, and servers as well as networks among others. According to Amir (2016),
there are three major cloud models which are Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a
Service (PaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS).
Before Good Food Company employs any of these models, this implementation plan is
going to analyze the role played by the cloud service provider or the vendor and the company
itself based on the three models as it relates to data migration, downtime, industry compliance,
service performance, technical support and system requirements. It will also describe the post
and pre-implementation expectations of each cloud model as it relates to maintenance, technical
support, and communication as well as training activities. It will later give the best cloud model
to use as well as the vendor or the service provider providing the same among Amazon,
Microsoft, Rackspace, IBM, Hewlett-Packard, Google, and Salesforce.
The IaaS is a cloud service delivery model which represents an intact IT environment
with infrastructural services that can be managed and accessed through cloud service-based tools
and interfaces. These infrastructural resources could include ‘raw’ IT features, operating
systems, connectivity, network and hardware among others. Consider the diagram below;

The PaaS is a cloud delivery model used in an environment where the IT resources have
already been configured and deployed. A pre-defined environment is basically represented by the
PaaS. This model also depends on an environment that is ready-made and that primarily lays
across pre-packaged tools and products which are dependent upon by all the custom applications
during the delivery lifecycle (Amir, 2016). Consider the figure below;

Fig 2: PaaS Environment of a Cloud Service Consumer
The SaaS, unlike the other two models, is used to offer delivery services on a commercial
basis via ensuring that a cloud service software is available for its reusability by various
companies utilizing the same cloud delivery model (Colman, 2013). This therefore basically
means that the model can be used in various terms and purposes and leased at the same time.
