Introduction
Biometrics is a scientific term which is technically applied to perform body calculations
and measurements. It is therefore used to imply to technical means of obtaining measurements
with the use of the human characteristics with its authentification being used as a form of access
control and identification in computer science (Fuks et al 2006). Biometrics has had its various
characteristics. While developing biometric identification systems, behavioral as well as physical
characteristics which are useful in identification or recognition are very vital. The essence for
using the behavioral as well as physical characteristics is to have uniqueness, which is described
as having unique or uncommon biometric features, having universality described as having
features which occur in many people, having permanence also described as having permanent
features which do not change over time having measurability also described as displaying
features which can easily be measured using the application of simplified technological
instruments and finally having user friendly features which implies that the features are both
comfortable and easy to measure (Witte et al 2005).
Before venturing into the various biometric characteristics and the description of their
features we need to look into the different factors that contribute to a development of a biometric...
