ASSIGNMENT:
Students will research and choose TWO professional(scholarly) articles related to a specific theoretical model covered in this class as it is applicable to a system (families, couples, other systems, etc.). Topics may include: Cognitive Behavioral Theory, Mindfulness - based Theories, The Gottman Method, Emotionally-Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT), Integrated Couples Therapy, Strategic Therapy, the Milan Model, Structural Therapy, Social Constructionism, Collaborative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, or Narrative Therapy.
SO FOR EXAMPLE: you can find an article about “using CBT with a married couple”, “using mindfulness based theories on trauma family”, “using solution-focused therapy on couple/family” etc etc. I NEED TWO scholarly articles.
Chosen articles/readings may address any aspect of thetheory including, but not limited to, research and efficacy, history, interventions, recent developments, specific applications, etc.(E.G. Using narrative therapy with adolescents, using cognitive behavioral therapy with couples, the roles of mindfulness in CBT work with couples or families, etc.)
Student will write a 2-3 page reflection paper based on their chosen topic and the instructions above. A copy of the articles/reading is not required, but it should be formally referenced pursuant to APA style. Paper should include a discussion of student’s thoughts, reflections, and insights about how the article/reading relates to the theory student’s current or future work with clients
