Read the South Town Medical Center case study on pages 443 – 445 of your text book, and answer the three questions at the end.

1. Analyze the data in Figure 11.22 and, using the appropriate control chart, determine
whether system is in control.
A control graph is applied in studying the way a process varies within a period of time. The
plotting of data is done in terms of time order. Values or observed results that are found in
between the control-limits correspond to not dismissing or acknowledging the statistical theory.
Nevertheless, the values that are outside the limits are equal to the hypothesis's dismissal. In both
cases, there exists a probability of errors. The type-i error involves dismissing the hypothesis
when it is true (probability a), while type-II error does not dismiss the false hypothesis
(probability β) (Control charts, 2008).
