- Discuss why Facebook has a legal and / or ethical duty to rescue a crime victim.
- Suggest and elaborate on three (3) ways that social media platforms can be more proactive and thorough with their review of the types of content that appear on their sites.
- Propose two (2) safeguards that Facebook and other social media platforms should put into place to help prevent acts of violence from being broadcasted.
- Conduct some research to determine whether or not Facebook has an Ethics Officer or Oversight Committee. If so, discuss the key functions of these positions. If not, debate on whether or not they should create these roles.
- Propose two (2) changes Facebook should adopt to encourage ethical use of their platform.

Introduction
Facebook Inc. was invented in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg as its founder and CEO. The
company provides an online social media platform for people to connect with friends, relatives
and family members. Today, the company has undergone tremendous trends and changes,
making it one of the known social media for corporates, individuals, and groups. With the
increasing wave of cybercrime, the company has found itself amid blames of breaching privacy,
confidentiality and integrity laws and legislation. Despite such allegations, Facebook has
continued to improve its services through innovation and creativity which has seen it add more
features into its platform to remain relevant to the social media businesses.
One of the major developments in its innovations is the Facebook live created in 2016
that targets celebrities and public figures (Newcomb, 2017). The Facebook live tool allows users
to interact with each other in real-world time. Since its invention, the feature has been used to
gain fame and capture protests, human rights violations and police brutality on civilians. Other
unfortunate scenes of murder, suicide, killings, rape, and torture have also been captured by the
feature. All these lead to the dilemma of the ethical nature and legality of the Facebook killings
broadcasted by the feature.

to be treated as a distinct entity from its directors. It also operates under its terms, policies,
