Discussion Question
Disaster is natural hazards that occur as a result of natural forces. As such, human beings have no
control over them. Disasters impacts business entities as well as human beings negatively.
Disasters usually cause the destruction of property as well as loss of life in some cases. Severe
disasters have a devastating impact on the environment. As such, disaster recovery plans are
usually very essential as it helps business entities and human being bounce back to their normal
life and operations. Operations of business entities are usually regained slowly after an
occurrence of a disaster. Disasters recovery tests are carried out to determine the backup
procedures that can be implemented for a full recovery as well as provide recovery training
among other reasons. There are a variety of tests that can be carried out in a disaster recovery
plan. The tests have proven to be very effective in facilitating the process of disaster recovery.
One of the tests that can be carried out in a disaster recovery plan is a parallel test. This test
helps a system recovery in a parallel hardware. It is carried out parallel to the operations of a
business entity. The parallel test has some advantage over the other methods of testing as it can
be carried out during the downtime of a business operation (Wallace & Webber, 2017). As such,
the management of a firm can be maximized on the downtime by caring out disaster recovery
tests. In addition, the parallel test has minimum impact on production as it does not affect the
operations of a company. This way, a company is able to recover fully from the destructions
made by the occurrence of a disaster. The systems of a business entity are usually destroyed after
the occurrence of a disaster. As such, restructuring and installation of new systems must be done
in order for a firm to regain its operations capacity. Disaster recovery tests are therefore carried
out to aid business entities in the process of recovering and regaining to their operations.

Full interruption is another test that can be done in a disaster recovery plan. Full

interruption test is one of the best disaster recovery plan test method as it facilitates full recovery
testing. Successful testing using this method ensures full recovery from...
