The definition of sociological imagination from a general perspective would be the ability
for an individual to think him or herself away from the standard daily routines that characterize
their lives and to reexamine them. In the process of reexamination the, individual looks at their
lives with a critical eye. C Wright Miller invented this concept of sociological imagination, and
his definition of this concept was that it is all about having a vivid awareness of the connection
between personal experiences and the broader society (Mils 2000).
What to do to apply the sociological imagination
The sociological imagination, therefore, is the ability to observe things from a
sociological point of view and how these social events interact and impact each other. Having
understood the definition it is significant for an individual to realize that sociological imagination
can only be achieved when a person pulls away from the situation and think from an alternative
perspective. This ability is significant for a person who desires to develop a social view of the
