Sociology and Aging
Sociology is an integrative science that studies human social relationships and
institutions. Therefore, it concerns the social systems and interrelations in social institutions, how
realities are socially constructed, and how attitudes and formation of values. The social
arrangements differ significantly in the life course from cohort to cohort. For instance, adults
who recently turned 65 years old the social factor that affects them is entirely different from
those that will influence adults of 65 in two decades to come. Depending on factors such as
education, the structure of the family, social inequity, patterns of employment, and gender roles
population generations that comes experiences different life cycle (Social Demography et al.,
2018).
Conceptual model made of many celled-cubes is used for studying social process in aging
over the life course. Development stages over the life course, levels from macro to subindividual, and examples of outcomes of interest are the three dimensions of the model. The
model does not present any specifics nor define hierarchy but it is anticipated to give heuristic
for conceptual thinking about the connections across levels as the combination of levels. Life
