CHANGE MANAGEMENT 2
Why change is needed
There is a need for change at our school. I have recently discovered that there is a
culture of unethical behavior in the school. I was transferred to the school recently, but I have
discovered low levels of respect among the teachers. At the same time, there is an
inappropriate use of time. The teachers report to class more than fifteen minutes late without
any reason. There is a low drive to work. I started checking on the teachers in the staff room
and realized that they use a great deal of their time online. Thus, cyberloafing is a common
aspect in the school.
The persons affected by the change
The teachers shall be largely affected by the change. The need to effect change shall
affect the support staff as well. The change in behavior targets the change of the
organizational culture in the school. The fact that the teachers are at the core of the
management of the school means that there is a need for an overall change in the
organizational culture. The influence may have spread to other non-teaching staff too.
The role of a change leader
I will work as the change leader in the school. I will oversee the implementation of
the change in the institution. I shall bring in the change agent at two critical points; the
unfreezing point and at the refreezing point to help instill the required values. I shall assess
the efficacy of the change model and implement the timeline for the change needed.
A reflection on Lewin’s Model of change management
I will employ the Lewin’s model of change management. The model has three stages
of change management. The idea forwarded by this model involves the unfreezing, changing,
and refreezing processes. The following assessment reflects each stage of the model.

CHANGE MANAGEMENT 3
Unfreezing is the first stage of the theory (Sindhu, Ahmad & Hashmi, 2017). It
involves the installation of the idea that change is needed. In other words, it is a mental
preparation for the people to embrace a new order. One needs to prepare th...
