Step 1 Write a paper.

In a two-page (500-word) paper, construct a cause and effect essay that follows these guidelines:

  • An introduction with a clear sense of thesis.
  • A body with several logically organized indented paragraphs.
  • A conclusion that effectively ends the essay.
  • Grammatical language that follows conventional practices of mecahnics and punctuation.
  • An APA References list for at least two sources used in the paper.

Consider the following topics, which you may use. You are free to choose a topic of your own.

  • Disease (diabetes, HIV, cancer)
  • Poverty
  • Employment/Unemployment
  • Climate Change
  • Health
  • Addiction
  • Wealth

Consider what your topic has to offer your reader. Why should this topic be interesting to your audience?

Step 2 Make sure you have an APA heading, at least 2 parenthetically cited sources in the paper, and a Reference page

Step 3 Save and submit your assignment.

Running head: CAUSE AND EFFECT ESSAY Cause and Effect Essay Javier Hernandez Cambridge Of Allied Health and Technology English Composition Dr. Ellen R. Scalese August 10, 20182018 1 CAUSE AND EFFECT ESSAY 2 Causes of Air Pollution Air pollution refers to the release of pollutants into the air that are harmful to the health of human beings and other living organisms, in addition to affecting the normal functioning of the entire planet. In this regard, it is imperative for all concerned stakeholders to work together to reduce the extent and effect of air pollution (Ackert & Lee, 2005). For instance, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is mandated by the Clean Air Act to facilitate the protection of public health through regulation of emissions of these harmful air pollutants in the United States. The largest cause of air pollution is through the production and use of energy, especially for the non-green energy sources such as fossil fuels and coal. For instance, the combustion of fossil fuels releases harmful gases such as carbon monoxide (CO) and carbon dioxide (CO2) among other hydrocarbons into the atmosphere. Factories, industries, and engines are some of the leading producers of these pollutants. For instance, the use of gasoline to fuel motor vehicles contributes significantly to air pollution, especially considering the high numbers of gasoline powered motor vehicles across the globe. Such carbon emissions are synonymous with air pollution. The mining and combustion of coal is another major source of air pollution owing to the copious amounts of carbon emissions reported from such coal mining plants, as well as coalpowered industries (Pearl & Mackenzie, 2018). Furthermore, emissions of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere also have a detrimental effect on the status of air pollution in the world. Aside from gaseous emissions, other notable air pollutants include chemicals and dirt particles that get CAUSE AND EFFECT ESSAY 3 blown into the air from time to time. All these pollutants affect grossly the natural state of air, thereby polluting it. Effects of Air Pollution Air pollution has many negative effects. As mentioned above, these effects affect both human beings as well as other living organisms in the world. Key among the negative impacts of global warming includes climate change, global warming, and weather changes. Climate changes are synonymous with air pollution, especially in response to the burning of fossil fuels, which continuously releases gases and chemicals into the atmosphere. It is noteworthy that these greenhouse gases cause rapid climatic changes once they accumulate in the atmosphere, thereby affecting significantly the normal climate in the world. Global warming is another dangerous effect of air pollution. This is largely attributable to the excessive carbon emissions into the atmosphere. When carbon monoxide and methane gases are released into the atmosphere, they are usually trapped in the earth’s atmosphere as opposed to being released into space, sometimes trapped for over 20 years (Ackert & Lee, 2005). As a result, when the sun shines on the ozone layer covered with these gases, the gases heat up, and subsequently raise the atmospheric temperatures, which eventually results in global warming. It is noteworthy that all the effects of global warming can also be categorized as the effects of air pollution because global warming only occurs when there is air pollution. Furthermore, the effects of climate change attributable to air pollution can also be considered as the effects of air pollution since air pollution is what led to their occurrence in the first place. For instance, when climate change increases the production of allergenic air CAUSE AND EFFECT ESSAY pollutants including molds and pollen, these too could also be considered as effects of air pollution. 4 CAUSE AND EFFECT ESSAY 5 References Ackert, P. & Lee, L.
