Comic strips or political cartoons are used as a means to communicate various situations in a
country, including political situations. They are used to cover such communication on a light
note and as a way of showing the masses that the situation in question or focus is serious. Using
them on a light note means that they are being used for comic relief. A good number of
newspapers include them in their daily issues. They are a good way of familiarizing the reader
with the political situation of the country of which they are part. Analyzing the political cartoons
helps with the identification of the language used, and in the manner in which it is used; the
elements applied in communicating the message in focus; the techniques applied; the colors; and
the message on characters. The analysis is a good way to help break down the message within
political cartoons. It is an eye-opener as it directs the readers’ attention to the pressing issues in
