The reading from the text prompted me to write a reflection on the Victimology. It was
very interesting to learn how the perspective of a victim has evolved over the years. Victim in the
traditional societies was associated with sacrifices where certain individuals and were killed and
offered to ‘gods’. In the modern society a victim is defined as an individual who has been
harmed through an illegal activity. The illegal activities could result in injuries or death of the
affected person. The affected person is referred to as the crime victim.
