The sediments of ocean floor contain evidence of millions of years on the history of climate. Some
areas are made up of microfossils like shells of foraminifera within the ocean sediments. Changes
in environmental conditions over time can be studied by examination of core extracts from
fluctuation in the species represented, the natural complexion of single species through the
sequence and seabed can be traced using an archeological stratigraphy. Changes in the
environment can also be analyzed by analyzing the oxygen isotope of foraminifera. Oxygen
composition in core gained from laminated ice sheets gives some clue to climate change. Andean,
Greenland, Tibetan Glaciers and Antarctic core results are in line with and add facts to the deepsea cores. Bubbles of ancient methane stuck in the ice can be analyzed to provide evidence of
environmental changes as it results from decomposition of plants sensitive to moisture and
temperature variation.
Ancient wind isotope can be used to determine data on precipitation and temperature studies.
