Question Description

I am currently in a graduate master’s level course that is titled “Strategic Planning & Implementation” and am needing for further clarification on the document posted below of questions I had "bolded in black and highlighted in yellow," including topics that were forgotten in this assignment and not explained.

I had a previous tutor for which these questions were posted again to let them know there were still topics that were missing from this assignment and other questions I needed help for further clarification on, however, for whatever reason they thought they answered them all and I don't think they really had good expertise on this management course for "strategic planning and implementation." Would greatly appreciate if any tutor that has "expertise" in management for Strategic Planning and Implementation" if you could go over the attached document posted below of topics that were forgotten by this last tutor, and others I needed help for further understanding (as mentioned in the posted document). For this assignment, I will post the web links, instructor requests, and the topics that my instructor is looking for in this word document research on my former employer of "OhioHealth" organization:

My chosen organization will be on my Former Employer of the OhioHealth Organization

Running head: STRATEGIC, IMPLEMENTATION AND CONTINGENCY PLAN Strategic, Implementation, and Contingency Plan Student Name Institution Affiliation 1 STRATEGIC, IMPLEMENTATION AND CONTINGENCY PLAN Strategic Plan: Implementation, Strategic Controls, and Contingency Plan OhioHealth is a well-recognized firm nationally due to its non-profitable activities, healthcare outreach, and charity conducted by the United Methodist Church. The facility is recognized as the fifth largest health system in the U.S through a research conducted by IBM Watson Health. The facility is ranked among the 100 best employers by Fortune for the last 12 years. The facility has 29,000 associates, volunteers, and physicians with at least 11 hospital networks, 200 plus ambulatory sites, home health, hospice, medical equipment, and other services in at least 47 Ohio counties. The hospital mission focuses on health, faith, wellness, and partnerships. (Had asked this question in my previous attachment, could you help explain further on why OhioHealth believes as a healthcare facility in the values of health, faith, wellness, and partnerships?) In the following essay, the strategic plan for implementation, strategic controls, and contingency plan analyses of the OhioHealth Corporation will get discussed. Implementation plan Objectives The company has been doing well since it was founded. The hospital has expanded its capacity and given several awards for being the number one health provider in Ohio. However, it needs methods and ways to increase its market share and activities. The strategies should be facilitated by the company management to have faith in the clients. A good implementation plan should be well designed; the plan should have details of costs, difficulties, and tasks that could arise during the implementation of the plan. The implementation plan should provide the cost of installing new systems, need for training, maintenance procedures, and personnel required. The objectives include expansion of the facility activities by getting to new consumers and lead the 2 STRATEGIC, IMPLEMENTATION AND CONTINGENCY PLAN market when it comes to health, wellness, and partnerships. With an expanded facility, the hospital will have more resources such as staff, equipment, and infrastructure, to cater for new clients. Strategy The company will create strategies for network expansion and increase customer loyalty. This includes community-oriented programs such as charity events or medical camps that would attract new and loyal customers. (Can help explain further on what types of medical camps and purpose of them?) Another strategy is paying attention to research and development, and sales leading the market in terms of offering the best health services and products. The organization’s research and development center can focus on finding solutions to public health issues.(Name specific public health issues that are most important and why?) Promotions and advertisements of medical camps, free medical checkups, and providing free health education programs to the local communities in Ohio. Functional Tactics The operational statements have details on the objectives and tasks used by the organization to obtain its short-term objectives and increase competitive advantage. The involvement of the management is necessary for carrying out the operational activities properly. The management oversees all operations within the organization such as administration activities, and decision-making processes (Can help explain what types of health administration activities and important health-related decision-making processes?) The research and development department can assist in improving the services offered to consumers over the online medical platform. The R&D focuses on improving the patient experience by enhancing the technology used within the organization. Medical platforms such as online support 3 STRATEGIC, IMPLEMENTATION AND CONTINGENCY PLAN services to the clients are facilitated by the R&D.(Was wondering on how R&D can enhance the medical technology specifically and how the medical online platforms can get facilitated by R & D specifically?) The R&D department also works to enhance the commodities and offer customers new innovative commodities. These include online platforms where patients and physicians can communicate. The patients can ask questions and receive information without visiting the facility (Armstrong & Taylor, 2014). Further, the marketing department is responsible for attracting new customers. The foundation costs are handled by the finance department of the firm. The marketing department engages the communities in Ohio in sales campaigns for new products, advertisement on medical activities such as free checkups. Foundation costs are accounted for during the expansion of the hospital or when a new department is created. For instance, during the development of the diabetes center, the finance department ensures that the foundation cost does not exceed the expected budget. Action Items OhioHealth is customer oriented. The organization finds ways to establish good relationships with the clients. For instance, the patients can contact a physician through online platforms, and the patients can also provide feedback directly to the organization when it comes to their health and concerns. The company offers the most preferred services to the customers and makes strategies accordingly. The employees should have the needed resources to ensure they carry out their responsibilities in a successful and organized manner. For instance, the organization has various departments such as diabetes, pediatric, cancer, and emergency facilities, among others. The division of the services based on those departments makes it easy to attend to a large number of patients. The employees should be empowered with the power to make decisions (Grant, 2016). The marketing department needs to bridge the communication 4 STRATEGIC, IMPLEMENTATION AND CONTINGENCY PLAN between the R&D department, employees, and the consumer. The employees are extensively trained on the importance of making independent decisions when handling patients. For instance, the nurses can make the decision to change the patient bed independently. The marketing and human resource departments can work hand in hand to ensure the employees are given the required tools such as work cell phones and instant messages through email online to make communication easier. Milestones and Deadlines It is important for the facility to set up milestones and work to achieve them within the stipulated duration. The R&D department should be responsible for the creation of new commodities. (As posted from previous attachment, could you help explain on why OhioHealth’s R & D would be responsible for new medical commodities and explain why?) The development of new services and products should take at least a year, the product life cycle should be reviewed when the prototype is made, this helps the company to understand the products that are likely to bring profit to the company. Once the products attain positive feedback, the commodity is launched in the market. Such products and services should be advertised by the marketing department. Some of these products include engaging patients in an online platform and using text messages to remind the discharged patients to take their medications and update their physicians on their progress. Tasks and Tasks Ownership For the company to motivate its employees, OhioHealth has its definition of task ownership. Task ownership enhances the morale of the workers. In this company, the employees are expected to make their decisions. Some of the decisions that the employees can make to enhance their morale include working with others to improve patient outcome. The employees 5 STRATEGIC, IMPLEMENTATION AND CONTINGENCY PLAN should find an effective way to handle patients during a shift change. When employees feel valued, they start working with more enthusiasm and energy (Taylor & Taylor, 2014). The teams of employees in OhioHealth work to ensure the patients are safe and well attended. They collaborate with each other to make their duties easier and successful. Employees should ensure that medical equipment being used by the patients are safe, sanitary, and during shift change, they should ensure smooth transfer of all patients for the incoming nurses and physicians overseeing there care for that shift. Updating the patient records make it easy for the nurses and physicians in different shifts to know what the patient requires medically. Resource Allocation The allocation of resources is imperative to the organization since it is essential for the company employees to have the required resources needed to carry out their work properly. The management team in the company needs to ensure that all resources are allocated to the employees. The control of the resource should be handled by the R&D department and human resource. The medical employees should be given stethoscopes and other necessary tools, like blood sugar monitors to test patient’s sugar levels, that make working effectively .The human resource department should handle materials such as healthcare employees working hours (can help explain further on how and why the human resource department needs to keep track and have on file all healthcare employee’s work hours?), while the R&D has all the resources such as medical equipment and testing that are required to innovate new products (Laudon & Laudon, 2015). The marketing team should handle important functions such as advertising and sales activities.(As asked previously from first posted attachment questions, what types of healthcare advertising and sales in particular should the marketing team handles and give examples?) 6 STRATEGIC, IMPLEMENTATION AND CONTINGENCY PLAN Management Strategies With changes that are created by an increased number of competitors and time, the OhioHealth managers should make the required changes to its strategies. The company should be aware of the present demands of the customers. When they offer different services and products to the customers, they should do so with the clients in mind. All services and products in OhioHealth organization are patient oriented for proper medical care and treatment. The facility should be aware of the client demands. If the healthcare providers meet the demands of the clients, it will always be successful. The company will also have an upper hand to the competition when the staff members are professionals and ensure that the patients are satisfied with various services offered pertaining to their treatment. Some of the client demands include fast services, affordable medical services, and friendly staff members (Walker, Haasnoot & Kwakkel, 2013). When the company is run based on its strategy, there will be maximum possible changes that the company will succeed. The proper strategic management ensures that the company understands the profits or losses made and ensure that the management makes the required decisions based on the retrieved information. (As mentioned previously from first posted attachment of questions, was wondering if you could help explain what would be the maximum changes for OhioHealth to succeed? Also, how can OhioHealth understand their profits and losses made if you can help give examples? And, how would their healthcare management team make required decisions based on what type of retrieved medical information to explain fully?) Success Factors and Finances The success of the company is decided by the financial resources. Prior to making any new plans, that should be implemented; the company needs to check its financial resources. For 7 STRATEGIC, IMPLEMENTATION AND CONTINGENCY PLAN 8 the company to succeed in the state of Ohio, it should focus on coordinating its vendors, suppliers, contractors, and other human resources. The company can invest in an information system that allow contractors, vendors and suppliers to communicate directly with the management when they have new materials to supply, or when the facility has new materials to be provided (Oliver, Innvar, Lorenc, Woodman & Thomas, 2014). Although most of the healthcare providers are not interested in the finances of the company, it is important for them to learn about various financial figures. Break-Even Analysis Sales 73,785 (Was wondering where you pulled the sales number?) Variable Expenses 53,224 (Was wondering where you pulled the variable expenses?) Contribution Margin 20,561 (Was wondering where you pulled the contribution margin number?) Fixed Expenses 16,878 (Was wondering where you pulled the fixed expenses?) Net Income 3,683 (Was wondering how you figured up net income, or where the number was pulled from?) Contribution Margin Ratio 27.87% (How did you calculate this ratio to figure up?) Yearly Break-Even Point 60,559.7 (How did you calculate this to figure up?) Total Marketing Expense 2016 2017 $37,998 $48,998 STRATEGIC, IMPLEMENTATION AND CONTINGENCY PLAN 9 Total Administrative Expense $46,173 $92,100 Total Operating $84,171 $141,098 Expense/Fixed Costs (Was wondering, to you happen to have a cited source for this financial information, and how was “Total Operating Expenses / Fixed Costs calculated out or figured?) The losses and profits made by the organization affect the employee’s salaries and bonuses that are given to the workers. Losses would make it difficult to cater for expenses such as salaries. (Can help explain on how “profits” can help or affect employee’s salaries and bonuses and give examples?) It is important for the organization to find a way to educate the nurses and physicians on the financial statements. Nurses and physicians should know the value of the services and products offered to patients because that is how the company make losses or profits (Batalden et al., 2015). In the past few years, OhioHealth has made profits. In the future, the company is expected to increase its revenue streams due to better management of resources. Better management of resources reduces waste, hence, increases saving costs while increased customer satisfaction improves the reputation of the company, attracting new customers; this increases the revenue stream. STRATEGIC, IMPLEMENTATION AND CONTINGENCY PLAN Figure 1: Financial Data 2000-2015 (Was wondering, would this be OhioHealth’s “forecasted financials, and if so, do you have a web link cited source for this and how was it figured up to explain further? For my understanding of “forecasted financials” it would mean “future numbered of forecasts,” and wondering based on that chart posted, is that revenue made yearly? Would appreciate more of an explanation on that and thanks!) Side Note: Didn’t see any mentioned explained of a “budget” made and discussed for OhioHealth? This was also part of the of the assignment labeled “Develop key success factors, budget, and forecasted financials, including a break-even chart,” would appreciate any help on that to develop or create OhioHealth’s budget to give a full detailed explanation on and where the financial data sources get cited too. Risk Management Plan Similar to other organizations, OhioHealth has several risks that it faces. Some of these risks include legal, environmental, or medical risks (Could you help give examples of these risks factors for legal, environmental and medical to explain?). Some of the risks can be 10 STRATEGIC, IMPLEMENTATION AND CONTINGENCY PLAN avoided while others cannot. An effective risk management plan should help the company minimize the factors that are associated with a given risk, the plan or strategy. (As mentioned from previous attachment post of questions, could you help explain what kind of effective risk management plan could OhioHealth use to minimize those factors stated above for legal, environmental, and medical risks? Also, what can be a specific plan or strategy for this in particular to explain further?) Risk management is an important part of any organization (Therivel, Wilson, Heaney & Thompson, 2013). The process is continuous and helps the organizations succeed more than others due to an effective risk management plan. (As mentioned from previous posted attachment, could you help explain why a risk management plan would be considered continuous, especially in a healthcare sector such as OhioHealth?) Risk Assessment and Identification The risks associated with the company are patient safety and security. Activities that affect the operations of the healthcare facility should be eliminated. Patient safety outcome is the most important goal in the facility since the patients should be taken care of and cured. The employees and visitors should ensure that the patients are secure and safe. For instance, the visitors and physicians should maintain the highest level of hygiene when interacting with the patients. Another risk is the confidentiality of patient records. These records should be stored privately to avoid any leaks of the medical history of patients. (Was wondering to explain further, how can patient medical records can be stored privately to prevent any hacking of sensitive material to retrieve health information) Patient confidentiality is important because the records and treatment of the patients should be only be seen by authorized personnel. 11 STRATEGIC, IMPLEMENTATION AND CONTINGENCY PLAN Contingency Plan and Risk Mitigation The strategies that should be implemented by the company to ensure patient satisfaction include preventing any form of threat to the company records. Hackers can intrude the company system to retrieve sensitive information about the patients. The company should have restricted access to some areas. To prevent intrusion and other threats, the organization should provide authorized access only to the employees using passwords, logins, and firewalls (Ahimbisibwe, Cavana & Daellenbach, 2015). Only a small number of employees should have access to most of the patient records. Nurses and physicians handling the patient records should be authorized to access the patient records. Conclusion The growth of any company highly depends on its strategies, implementation, strategic controls, and contingency plans. In OhioHealth, the strategies ensure the demands of patients are met by hiring skilled employees and using information systems to make delivery of services swift. The motivation of employees is important because it increases morale. Employees who feel part of the decision-making process and are valued by the company tend to be highly motivated. The employees work hand in hand to ensure that all patients are well attended and taken care of. In the implementation phase, the objectives should be divided into short-term and long-term goals. These goals should be divided based on their milestone and deadlines. The healthcare workers should also address most of the issues that affect the patient. The ability to make decisions should be given to all employees. (As mentioned previously, can help explain the importance for healthcare workers to address medical issues affecting patients with examples to explain fully, and how when making important healthcare decisions motivates healthcare employees to do well in their job position working in the health sector?) 12 STRATEGIC, IMPLEMENTATION AND CONTINGENCY PLAN References Ahimbisibwe, A., Cavana, R. Strategic Plan: Implementation, Strategic Controls and contingency plans
Introduction
OhioHealth is a well-recognized firm nationally due to its non-profitable activities,
healthcare outreach, and charity conducted by the United Methodist Church. The facility is
recognized as the fifth largest health system in the U.S through a research conducted by IBM
Watson Health. The facility is ranked among the 100 best employers by Fortune for the last
12 years. The facility has 29,000 associates, volunteers, and physicians with at least 11
hospital networks, 200 plus ambulatory sites, home health, hospice, medical equipment, and
other services in at least 47 Ohio counties. The hospital mission focuses on health, faith,
wellness, and partnerships.
OhioHealth hospital believes in the health values, wellness and the partnerships
because they will help revolutionize the services p/offered by the organization. Partnerships
will help deal with health cries and problems. The health facility believes in health values
since they can help address the wants of the vulnerable and the disadvantaged in the society.
The wellness of the health services will help in the delivery of high quality and sensitives
medical services to the students. In the following essay, the strategic plan for implementation,
strategic controls, and contingency plan analyses of the OhioHealth Corporation will get
discussed (Batalden et al. 2015).
Implementation plan
Objectives
The company has been doing well since it was founded. The hospital has expanded its
capacity and given several awards for being the number one health provider in Ohio.
However, it needs methods and ways to increase its market share and activities. The

strategies should be facilitated by the company management to have faith in the clients. A
good implementation plan should be well designed; the plan should have details of costs,
difficulties, and tasks that could arise during the implementation of the plan. The
implementation plan should provide the cost of installing new systems, need for training,
maintenance procedures, and personnel required. The objectives include expansion of the
facility activities by getting to new consumers and lead the market when it comes to health,
wellness, and partnerships. With an expanded facility, the hospital will have more resources
such as staff, equipment, and infrastructure, to cater for new clients (Batalden et al. 2015).
Strategy
The company will create strategies for network expansion and customer loyalty. The
strategies include community-oriented programs such as charity events or medical camps
which will help it attract new and loyal customers. Ohio will organize medical camps will
charity organizations. The team which will conduct the exercise will be made up of ten
members including a physician, a dentist and also a gynecologist. The medical camps will do
free blood sugar, blood pressure screening. Ohio medical facility will have the responsibility
of creating the health camp hence those in charge will be the ones who will be doing
screening. Promotions and advertisement of medical camps, free medical check-ups, and
providing free health education programs to the local communities in Ohio is one of the
strategies which will be used by the facility.
Another strategy is paying attention to research and development, and sales leading
the market in terms of offering the best health services and products. The organization’s
research and development centre can focus on finding solutions to public health issues like
alcohol related harms, heart disease, usage of tobacco, motor vehicle accident injuries and
teenage pregnancies. Dealing with these issues will help improve with the health status of the

people of the country. Since helping public health issues is one of the missions of Ohio health
facility, it will take the necessary measures to ensure that the mission is accomplished.
Functional Tactics
The operational statements have details on the objectives and tasks used by the
organization to obtain its short-term objectives and increase competitive advantage. The
involvement of the management is necessary for carrying out the operational activities
properly. The management oversees all operations within the organization such as
administration activities, and decision-making processes. Since the way a health organization
is managed can greatly affect the health outcomes, patient satisfaction and the quality of care
offered to the patients. The administration activities include the coordination of activities of
the facility, creating goals for the Ohio health facility and develop strategies on how to
achieve them. The administration is the one which is responsible in communicating any
changes in the facility. The administration should take measures which will make the staff
members concentrate on offering healthcare services. Other administration activities done by
the management include marketing of the facility’s services, budgeting and scheduling the
organization’s activities. The research and development department can assist in improving
the services offered to consumers over the online medical platform (Batalden et al. 2015).
The R&D department also works to enhance the health products and offer customers
new innovative products. These include online platforms where patients and physicians can
communicate. The patients can ask questions and receive information without visiting the
facility (Walker, Haasnoot, & Kwakkel, 2013). Further, the marketing department is
responsible for attracting new customers. The foundation costs are handled by the finance
department of the firm. The marketing department engages the communities in Ohio in sales
campaigns for new products, advertisement on medical activities such as free checkups.

STRATEGIC, IMPLEMENTATION AND CONTINGENCY PLAN

5

Foundation costs are accounted for during the expansion of the hospital or when a new
department is created. For instance, during the development of the diabetes center, the
finance department ensures that the foundation cost does not exceed the expected budget.
Action Items
OhioHealth is customer oriented. The organization finds ways to establish good
relationships with the clients. For instance, the patients can contact a physician through
online platforms, and the patients can also provide feedback directly to the organization when
it comes to their health and concerns. The company offers the most preferred services to the
customers and makes strategies accordingly. The employees should have the needed
resources to ensure they carry out their responsibilities in a successful and organized manner.
For instance, the organization has various departments such as diabetes, pediatric, cancer, and
emergency facilities, among others. The division of the services based on those departments
makes it easy to attend to a large number of patients. The employees should be empowered
with the power to make decisions (Walker, Haasnoot, & Kwakkel, 2013). The marketing
department needs to bridge the communication between the R&D department, employees,
and the consumer. The employees are extensively trained on the importance of making
independent decisions when handling patients. For instance, the nurses can make the decision
to change the patient bed independently. The marketing and human resource departments can
work hand in hand to ensure the employees are given the required tools such as work cell
phones and instant messages through email online to make communication easier (Batalden
et al. 2015).
Milestones and Deadlines
It is important for the facility to set up milestones and work to achieve them within
the stipulated duration. The R&D department should be responsible for the creation of new

STRATEGIC, IMPLEMENTATION AND CONTINGENCY PLAN

6

medical products since it is the one which is entitled with the responsibility of conducting
research activities and proposing their research to the management of the facility. The
department acquired a state of the earth research equipment which will help it conduct is
research sufficiently and produce perfect products.
The department has highly qualified staffs which is why Ohio health facility does not
depend on an external supply of its health products. The department also helps the facility do
research on new infections patients maybe having and propose a solution to them. The
department is made up of doctors, lab technicians, physicians and scientists who are
dedicated in ensuring that Ohio health facility offers the best health services across the
country.
The development of new services and products should take at least a year, the product
life cycle should be reviewed when the prototype is made, this helps the company to
understand the products that are likely to bring profit to the company. Once the products get
positive feedbacks, the commodity is launched in the market. Such products and services
should be advertised by the marketing department. Some of these products include engaging
patients in an online platform and using text messages to remind the discharged patients to
take their medications and update their physicians on their progress.
Tasks and Tasks Ownership
For the company to motivate its employees, OhioHealth has its definition of task
ownership. Task ownership enhances the morale of the workers. In this company, the
employees are expected to make their decisions. Some of the decisions that the employees
can make to enhance their morale include working with others to improve patient outcome.
The employees should find an effective way to handle patients during a shift change. When
employees feel valued, they start working with more enthusiasm and energy (Walker,

STRATEGIC, IMPLEMENTATION AND CONTINGENCY PLAN

Haasnoot, & Kwakkel, 2013). The teams of employees in OhioHealth work to ensure the
patients are safe and well attended. They collaborate with each other to make their duties
easier and successful. Employees should ensure that medical equipment being used by the
patients are safe, sanitary, and during shift change, they should ensure smooth transfer of all
patients for the incoming nurses and physicians overseeing there care for that shift. Updating
the patient records make it easy for the nurses and physicians in different shifts to know what
the patient requires medically.
Resource Allocation
The allocation of resources is imperative to the organization since it is essential for
the company employees to have the required resources needed to carry out their work
properly. The management team in the company needs to ensure that all the necessary
resources are allocated to the employees. The control of the resource should be handled by
the R&D department and human resource. The medical employees should be given
stethoscopes and other necessary tools, like blood sugar monitors to test patient’s sugar
levels, that make working effectively .The human resource department should handle
materials such as healthcare employees working hours. Having employee records will help
the organization monitor the productivity of the employee. The records will help the
organization to know which employee they should promote in case a vacant to fill emerges or
one of the top employees retires. The records will also help the organization to know which
employees they can rely on during an emergency.
Management Strategies
With changes that are created by an increased number of competitors and time, the
OhioHealth managers should make the required changes to its strategies. The company
should be aware of the present demands of the customers. When they offer different services

STRATEGIC, IMPLEMENTATION AND CONTINGENCY PLAN

8

and products to the customers, they should do so with the clients in mind. All services and
products in OhioHealth organization are patient oriented for proper medical care and
treatment. The facility should be aware of the client needs. If the healthcare providers meet
the needs of the clients, it will always be successful. The company will also have an upper
hand to the competition when the staff members are professionals and ensure that the patients
are satisfied with the services offered pertaining to their treatment. Some of the client
demands include fast services, affordable medical services, and friendly staff members
(Walker, Haasnoot & Kwakkel, 2013). When the company is run based on its strategy, there
will be maximum possible changes that the company will succeed. The proper strategic
management ensures that the company understands the profits or losses made and ensure that
the management makes the required decisions based on the retrieved information. The
company should make profit and loss statements which are commonly known as income
statements. The statements are the most common and most popular financial statements in
any organization. The income statements tell the company if it’s profitable or not. The PL
statement gives a summary of the company’s revenue, its expenses and then shows the net
profit of the organization. The expenses the company may experience include salaries and
wages, employee related expenses, insurance, leased equipment, marketing services, office
expenses, income taxes and depreciation of the company’s assets. The success of the
company depends on its marketing strategies. The company should use excellent marketing
strategies which will help it attract more patients from or over the country. The facility should
also strive to cut down on expenses and use the extra money to invest in other sectors which
aim at improving the services offered by the company. The profit made by the company
should also be re-invested to help the company grow further.

STRATEGIC, IMPLEMENTATION AND CONTINGENCY PLAN

9

Success Factors and Finances
The success of the company is decided by the financial resources. Prior to making any
new plans, that should be implemented; the company needs to check its financial resources.
For the company to succeed in the state of Ohio, it should focus on coordinating its vendors,
suppliers, contractors, and other human resources. The company can invest in an information
