In order to explore some of the effects of advertising, along with applying these ideas to the readings, please do the following: 1. Find a recent (less than one year old) print or TV commercial ad that you really like. Then, showcase it here by either attached the scanned ad or image or by inserting the URL, and tell us briefly why you like this ad. Make sure we can all access your ad. 2. At first glance, how honest do you think this ad is? That is, how many lies, half-truths, or informal fallacies do you think this ad commits? Be specific. 3. Then, look at your ad again, and then carefully follow Savan's 10 tactics for viewing advertisements. Has your assessment of this ad changed? If not, why? If so, how? 4. They are many commercial advertisements that are geared towards the promotion of a
given product, business idea or any other profit-related venture. They are meant to make us
understand and evaluate the best that suit our particular needs. Therefore, much attention
should be taken when looking at the various types of advertisements since some may not be in
a position of fulfilling our needs.
The specific commercial TV advertisement that has attracted my eyes and attention
this year has been the Nissan Navara brand. With its incipient production early this year
around February, I am damn sure that anyone who is a diehard of entertainment and news has
come across it. Furthermore, the brand just like other species of motors has come at a time
when the majority of the population is in a position to purchase any car as per the quality
(Dawson et al., 2015). I like this advertisement since it tries to convey the multipurpose role
of the vehicle...
