Creative Learning Experiences in Early Childhood and Special Education

Bowie State University

Description

When students have difficulty engaging in the classroom activities when the activities are either too hard or too easy, what type of behaviors are likely to arise from those children who are unengaged? What types of behaviors are likely to be seen when students are engaged in divergent thinking, self expression, and other forms of creative learning? (i.e. students help one another; students are more willing to try new experiences, confidence increases as evidenced by students becoming more outspoken about their work products).

Give advice to a beginning teacher on how his/her lessons should be designed to meet the learning needs of all students. Consider the following to jump-start your thinking:

1. How can high achievers be included in the same group as low achievers?

2. What type of information should a teacher have about her students before preparing a lesson?

3. How is behavior impacted by creative learning experiences?

4. What are some of the benefits of creative learning through art projects and other hands on activities.
