Joseph Bell was a Scottish surgeon and medical lecturer who lived between 1837 and
1911. Throughout his medical practice, he built a reputation of excellent diagnosis abilities
through observing and interpreting his patients. He also inspired the creation of the fictional
literary character Sherlock Holmes which was authored by one of his students. Bell adopted a
different approach to evaluating his patients, by utilizing more than the then approach of
