Introduction
According to WHO, 470 000 homicides occur annually, and as a result, millions of
global citizens are exposed to violence ("Violence prevention", 2018). Apart from physical
injuries and death, exposure to violence can result in mental illnesses, drug and substance
abuse, contraction of chronic disease and HIV, suicidal thoughts and even further instances of
violence. The act of violence itself is highly preventable, if and only if the effective violence
prevention measures are put in place. The sad reality is, in the current era violence is a
serious public health problem, affecting individuals in all stages of life. The failure to adopt
violent prevention in most cases has resulted in crises. Most of these crises need to be
managed to lessen their harmful impacts on human beings.
