Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a psychotherapy treatment which is goal-oriented
that is aimed at changing the thinking patterns of people who are going through problems. It is
applied when dealing with personal life issues ranging from lack of sleep, difficulties in
relationships, drug abuse as well as depression. It works by changing attitudes and behavior of
people by solely concentrating on thoughts and beliefs that they hold. CBT is considered to be
effective because it takes a short period to solve most of the emotional problems (Linehan,
Marsha).
