Post 1: Faithful (also known as Literal): Is when a director of the play has faith in the words of the playwright. The director uses all of the words and stage directions that the playwright wrote in the script without changing one thing. He just makes the playwright’s vision for their play come to life. Translation: This approach is the one that most directors use in today’s time. The translation approach is when the director uses the original dialogue, but might change the stage direction, when the actor come on the sage, and how they perform the dialogue. In this approach it’s about the director vision for the performance of the play. Auteur: in this approach the script is more of a guide line for the director. The director has fee rain to have artistic intentions. The directors can shape and reshape the play, so that that their vision for the play is being met. Which approach makes more sense to you? How do you think it would influence a final production? The one that make the most sense to me, is the faithful approach because I think that if a playwright took the time to write a play with so much detail they would want to see their vision come to life. I know I would. I think that this approach would influence the final production in a good way. I believe that the playwright would be happy knowing that’s their vision up there on stage. I also think that the director would be proud of their work because they helped the playwright make their vision come to life on stage.
