Fast Facts Assignment Link: Due Sunday, September 30 by 11:59pm Using the model of social interdependence and experiential learning students will request a topic that is approved by the faculty member. Students will be conducting research with others in the same topic area. Each student will have a separate subtopic within the topic area. Format for Fast Fact Presentation Each student will research their own subtopic which fits under the topic heading. By creating a thread in the discussion, the student will post 10 evidence-based facts on blackboard by September 30 @ 11:59pm. Students will need to post the same 10 facts via the Fast Facts assignment link. Please see example for details on how the 10 fast facts are to be completed. Eight of the facts need to come from peer-reviewed journal articles. Two facts may come from a reputable website. Please only use two facts per source (at least 5 sources in all). You need to cite research published from 2010 - present. If you cite an article from earlier than 2010, it will not count. Dissertations do not count because they are not published in peer-reviewed journals yet. Blogs DO NOT count as reputable websites. Please confirm whether a website is considered reputable before citing it. In addition, each student will respond to 6 of their classmates facts (different topic heading from your own) also on blackboard by Noon on October 1. The response is about how you find the fact/facts of interest to you in your life or if you have any comments from your own experience or friends, family, co-workers. When responding, please reference the fact/facts you are responding to (#3 of (subtopic area) and your response must be a minimum of 3 - 5 substantial sentences. Comments like, "This is an interesting fact" do not count. Again, any ?s, ask your professor or TA. Presentation - Each individual will present their fast facts to a group during their presentation week (the week of October 1). A group discussion will follow the presentation to answer questions, give opinions and share knowledge and thoughts. Understanding the implications for diversity should be included in your presentation. Following the group discussion, each student will select a fact to share with the larger group. Fast Facts Research: 10 points (post both in the discussion and via the assignment link) Reply to 6 Peers: 6 points Presentation in Class: 4 points Fast Fact Example: 1. "Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy often used with chronically ill children. In art therapy, patients are encouraged by an art therapist to express their thoughts and feelings through art materials and interventions. Art therapy services have become more common in hospital settings and have been shown to help children cope with the psychological distress resulting from illness and hospitalization" (Beebe, Gelfand & Bender, 2010 pp. 263). Opinion: This study says that art therapy has benefits for children with asthma, especially chronic, so that they may have a better way of life. It provides a way to express themselves. I agree with this statement as I had chronic asthma and was hospitalized once and critically treated for asthma and pneumonia as a child and many times throughout my life. I recall having a "therapist" coming through and seeking to do activities with me like coloring or games and so forth to distract me from the atmosphere of the hospital. Therefore, I agree that it is so very important to provide artistic avenues to these children that must endure constant health struggles or inhibitions to their health and life. Once somebody has experienced not living life to the fullest, they can better understand the need for these children to express themselves and have a better outlook on life even if they physically cannot do some things. Citation: Beebe, Gelfand, & Bender. (2010). A randomized trial to test the effectiveness of art therapy for children with asthma. The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, 126(2), 263-266. Fast Facts Response Example: Fast Facts: Bb Response to another student's fact I loved your 3rd fast fact because it showed a less known practice of team exercise and one I had never thought of before. While the word team is normally associated with a sport, the benefits of group activities extend way past the field or court and can be applicable to patients in a hospital who are all trying to heal from injury or disease. This shows that support and unified activities (no matter where they take place) can benefit us all and help improve our moods, help us seek relief from whatever pain or discomfort we might be feeling, or even encourage us to work harder towards a personal goal. Explanation & Answer

100% original as usual.

1. According to Pearce, W, et. Al, climate change is evident as a matter of fact as the global
temperatures are hitting the highest levels in the most recent years.
Opinion
In my honest opinion, this is undeniably true since the heat waves that are being experienced
in almost all parts of the world never used to go to the extremes as it is happening now. The
temperatures are as a result breaking any records that existed in the recent past.
2. Wilby, R. L. states that one of the major effects of climate change is the fact that sea ice
in the Arctic region and the glaciers are melting at a faster rate.
My Opinion
As a result of the increasing temperatures due to global warming, the glaciers ...
