Description
Design a trifold educational brochure, that will be used to educate the community, about one of the following topic:
Hypertension
Brochure Contents
- Two evidenced-based web sites or journal articles as a reference
- Risk factors
- Possible consequences
- Prevention strategies
- Treatment modalities
- It is essentially an document that is turned on its side and folded so there are 3 sections. Here is an exampleIf you have never made one of these before- then please watch You Tube videos, or contact the writing center to assist you. LEARNING HOW TO MAKE A TRI-FOLD BROCHURE IS A REQUIREMENTS. It is an excellent tool. Do not submit a 4 page paper or a document that’s just a table with 3 columns. When I grade your work I imagine that I would print this out, fold it and hand it to your patient.
- Is it professional?
- Are all 6 sides fully developed (DO NOT waste space! You do not need an address page)
- Are the references tucked away neatly in a small area (suggest using 8 pt font for 2-3 references at the bottom of one of your pages- it should not detract from the content)
- Will the patient learn what they need based on the assignment instructions
- Are there visuals (pictures) that supplement the content but do not detract. In other words, don’t put a huge picture on each side of the brochure with minimal content and expect to get full credit. It should be balanced and professional looing.

Hypertension
Inadequate potassium and excess
sodium consumption
Potassium ensures there is a balance in the
sodium content present in an individual’s
cells. Failure to take adequate sodium leads
to accumulation of sodium in the blood.
Excessive sodium increases the quantity of
fluids retained by the body, prompting an
increase in blood pressure.
Possible consequences
Hypertension infographics elements.
Blood pressure refers to a force that is
exerted against the blood vessels’ walls
due to the heart’s pumping action. When
the blood pressure against the artery
walls remains elevated, it leads to a longterm condition known as hypertension.
The condition results from the quantity of
blood pumped by the heart, and the
resistance of flow in the arteries. One
may suffer from hypertension for years,
yet fail to show any symptoms.
Therefore, it is important to familiarize
with the risk factors associated with
hypertension, possible consequences,
strategies to prevent the condition, and
treatment modalities. Knowledge on the
condition aids its prevention and
maintenance.
Risk factors
Hypertension is capable of damaging the
blood vessels as well as other internal
organs. Failure to regulate high blood
pressure increases the chances of a further
rise in the pressure, resulting in greater
damage. Unregulated blood pressure may
lead to:
•
Stroke
Extremely high blood pressure may lead to
thickening and stiffening of the arteries,
causing a stroke or heart attack.
•
Aneurysm
Continued subjection to high pressure may
weaken the blood vessels. Upon
