Need Source and Issues, Outline and a Literature Review

English 112

Question Description

Topic has to relate to Bipolar disorder and be in the realm of the NATURAL SCIENCES. I WILL ATTACH MY POPULAR SCIENCE ESSAY AS A REFERENCE

For this assignment, you will be required to locate between seven to ten scholarly sources related to the specific focus of your topic. You must identify at least four separate issues related to the topic. Be sure you include the authors' names with your notes so that you can distinguish among them when you write your final literature review, which should be about 1,000 WORDS PLUS the references. Sources will be cited in APA style.

  • You will be responsible for a references list of your seven to ten sources.
  • You must identify four or more issues you plan to discuss in the literature review.
  • A detailed outline of your review--including sources.
  • The final literature review.

SOURCES and ISUSSUES REQUIREMENTS:

For this assignment, prepare a references page in APA style in which you include all the sources you plan to discuss in your literature review (AT LEAST seven, no more than ten).

For this assignment, you are then required to identify at least four issues related to the topic choice. These will include the subject matter analyzed by the sources and/or the topics on which they disagree.

As you read your sources carefully, you will begin to see common topics and themes in their discussions. These will be the issues around which you will organize your literature review. What are the common themes discussed in these sources?

From the seven to ten sources you are using for this project, you must identify at least four issues they discuss in common and on which they probably disagree to some extent. For this assignment, provide a list of the four (or more) issues you will discuss in your literature review. For each, note in at least 100 words some of the differing or similar presentations or disagreements and agreements among your sources.

OUTLINE REQUIREMENTS:

For this outline, you should list as Roman numerals the major sections of the literature review as found in the UNC materials and in the samples you have read. (Note: These sections will vary based on the topic you have chosen and the types of issues involved.) Once you get to the four or more issues you plan to discuss, list in your outline the varying perspectives from the sources included.

This outline should take some time and effort to produce; it will provide the plan for your entire project and should include enough details so that I can evaluate your plan before you start writing. Partial statements and incomplete sentences are not enough. Hastily written outlines or outlines written at the last minute without much thought will not be enough. Complete sentences are required.

LITERATURE REVIEW REQUIREMENTS:

Brewer 1 Bipolar Disorder Larissa Brewer English 112 Fayetteville Technical Community College September 17, 2018 Brewer 2 Final Draft Every so often, bipolar disorder patients are hospitalized for treatment of the same disorder in emergency mental facilities where professional help is accorded appropriately. The exact cure for bipolar disorder is yet to be established. As a result, the treatment in itself gives caregivers and the support system a hard time to treat. When the disorder is detected during the early stages, the severity of the symptoms can be curbed. There are different forms of therapies used to treat young patients, and by so doing, the severity of the disorder is customarily controlled. Other than centering around one type of therapy, mental health practitioners are encouraged to divulge into using more forms of therapies to treat bipolar disorder in children and young adults1. Undoubtedly, various sessions of therapies can help bipolar patients lead a healthy and productive life in their given communities. Therapy is helpful as it helps in integrating the bipolar disorder people in society; and assists them to lead a productive social life alongside other people. Effective diagnosis and treatment methods need to be established to effectively reduce bipolar disorder rates. The prevalence of bipolar disorder is unusually high in the U.S, and this is attributed to the genetics and environmental factors surrounding the individuals2. All types of bipolar disorder can be incredibly overwhelming if the right kind of treatment is not availed. More needs to be done therefore to find a lasting solution to alleviating the symptoms and stabilizing the mood swings among bipolar patients worldwide. If left untreated, bipolar disorder has adverse 1 Suominen et al., Bipolar disorders 9, no. 7 (2007): 701 2 Bhandari, Smitha. "Bipolar Disorder or ADHD? Diagnosing teens with both the conditions." Mental Health Matters, no. 1 (2018): 15-16. Brewer 3 effects not only on the patients but also to the family and the entire mental medical profession as well. Diagnostic and treatment methods among the young adults need to be enhanced to improve on their social and professional lives. Adolescents with the disorder often face stigmatization from their peers, and this pushes them to extreme ends to the point of contemplating suicidal thoughts. Unlike adults, treatment in children and adolescents take more time, and this is why intensive diagnosis and treatment approaches need to be instituted. The support system has proven quite useful during the treatment process of bipolar disorder. The support of family and friends goes a long wait in helping the patient recover fast. Parents and guardians following the advice of mental health professionals prefer going to therapy sessions in accompany of their young ones for moral support3. Bipolar disorder often develops in young adults and adolescents, but sometimes the disorder can be diagnosed in children as early as six years. This entails that parents and the entire family need to be vigilant in detecting unusual behaviors which relate to bipolar disorder. Early treatment in children is so important rather than waiting until the children are adults to seek professional help. The topic of bipolar disorder has of late become quite controversial. This is because there are a group of medical experts who believe that the disorder is rare and over diagnosed while the other group thinks otherwise. It is, therefore, hard to put state the exact fact regarding the diagnosis and occurrence of the bipolar disorder in children and teens. 3 Suominen et al., Bipolar disorders 9, no. 7 (2007): 704 Brewer 4 Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder (DMDD) is sometimes misdiagnosed as bipolar disorder4. Essentially, parents need to seek a second medical opinion before embarking on an appropriate treatment plan. Parents are the main support system, and they need to establish a good rapport with their children's health caregivers to learn everything entailed in the treatment plan. The increasing rates of bipolar disorder in children and teens can considerably be reduced if the right set of diagnosis and treatment is made. Children and adolescents in the manic phase are significantly more irritable than adults5. This happens because the disorder is sometimes misdiagnosed. To avoid this, patients should seek mental help from the qualified medical practitioners. The right diagnosis and treatment can help children and teens to manage the symptoms of the disorder. The family genes and brain structure are among the cause of the bipolar disorder in the young ones. However, it does not mean that when a family member has the disorder, then the child automatically inherits the disorder genes. This is utterly false unless medical diagnosis dictates otherwise. Children respond differently to medication. Some may need more than one form of medication to get well because their symptoms are incredibly complex6. Professional healthcare 4 Paris, Joel. Brewer 5 givers sometimes recommend trying the child on different types of therapies and medication to get the right one that works best for the child. Therapy is essential in children with the disorder. Therapy helps the children and the teens to manage their daily routines and change their behavior. The best form of therapy should include family members as the support system because it enables the patient to get along well with the rest of the family members and friends. When doctors, the young people, and parents work together, the chances of helping the child with the disorder is high. Occasionally, the disorder changes and if this happens, the medication needs to change to. Symptoms may come back immediately, or after a while, regardless, the medic should adjust to the changes and introduce new medication to test its effectiveness. Diagnosis of bipolar disorder in the young people is more complex and often requires careful observation over time. Medical evaluation of the child by a trained mental health professional is the first step towards treatment. Early diagnosis of bipolar disorder in children and teens is important because the disorder can generate other problems like drug and substance abuse 7. Parents should be open to medication and counseling of their young ones to reduce the adversity of the symptoms. It is a challenge for the parents, but with the help of a support group, they can effectively take care of their children with bipolar disorder. Medication and therapy assist the children and teens to live and interact well with others. 7 Welge, Jeffrey A., and Melissa P. DelBello.
