Futurism is an artistic, social movement that emerged in Italy in the twentieth century.
The movement aimed to liberate Italy from its past through glorifying modernity and putting
emphasis on technology, speed and the youth.
Italianate
Italianate is a style of architecture that was popular in the 19th century. It was first
developed in Britain by John Nash when he constructed a small country house in west midlands
in England.

Deutscher Werkbund
This was a German association of designers, artists, architects and industrialists which
was established in the year 1907 with the attempt of inspiring good design and craftsmanship in
art and architecture.
Second Empire
This is an architectural style that was most popular in the late 19th century and early 20th
century. This style derived its inspiration from the renaissance in the 17th century. Low square
based domes mostly characterised it.
Richardsonian
This was an architectural style that was named after its architect Henry Hobson
Richardson. This style derived its inspiration from the ancient Romans.

dominant in most American cities, such as Bolton, and New York. A famous example of this
style is the Gunston Hall in Virginia.
Queen Anne
Queen Anne refers to an architectural style was dominant from 1880 to 1910. It is
characterised by sharp contrast, asymmetry and Eclecticism. Notable structures using this style

Essentially this term is used to refer to an architectural style that led to the development of
